A year before in the 2009 draft, I still find it baffling that Dustin Ackley flopped so hard.

His swing in college was so beautiful and compact. I still believe SEA coaching messed him up, similar to what ATL did to JHey.

Maybe Manfred will sentence him to death on the mound.

Honestly, I wouldn't trust that "investigation." I'm more interested in what the FBI case digs up, as well as what happens when the interpreter is looking at prison time.

I hope it leads to MLB realizng they don't need a team in Vegas. As for Rose, I think MLB likes having these two larger than life narratives that is Charlie Hustle and Shoeless Joe. Both belong in the Hall as far as I'm concerned but at the same time they both stay in their own unique little category instead of riding off into the HoF sunset just to become another Herb Pennock or Rube Marquard.

Yes, they both have been set apart in a way that both highlights their accomplishments, since nobody doubts that they are hall of famers (if not for the ban), but at the same time, because they are no doubters, it lends credibility and gravitas to the "no bet on baseball" mantra which is why I agree with keeping both of them out.

I don't need to rehash the whole thing, Lord know the White Sox scandal is one of the most analyzed incidents in the history of American sports, but Shoeless did know about the plot (even if he didn't participated and allegedly maybe tried to warn the WSox owner).

Rose case is more clear shut for me. He knew about the no betting history, he had the plaque on every clubhouse about no betting. The last hope of his defenders, that he might have bet as manager but not as a player was proven false so that ended all of that for me.

I think it might happen, but only after he dies, which is morbid. They don't want to give him any satisfaction while he is still alive, specially after Manfred made his comments about Rose having to "make changes in his life" or something to that effect, which everyone took it as meaning Rose is still betting on stuff, presumably baseball too, to this day.

Which to any civilian it shouldn't matter, betting is now legal, but when you have been crying about this for 30 plus years and how you are a changed man and whatnot, I would think refraining from betting, would be a show of good will. But addiction is a disease, so is MLB punishing him for his addiction? Maybe, but is he seeking any help? Does he wants any? Do I think this way too much? Why do you ask? :P

So tired of the Pete Rose stuff, worst thing about this Ohtani thing is all of his defenders coming out of the woodwork.

Not sure what Vegas has to do with this. The onslaught of gambling ads and the ease of betting on your phone 24/7 are much bigger problems. (And none of this is a problem in MLB's eyes, so long as the money keeps rolling in.)

I think MLB should avoid anything related to Vegas (or Atlantic City for that matter) just to stay away from slippery slopes. I hate that even MLB Network has started the path down gambling road. I actually dont have a problem with gambling, phone or otherwise. Its just a bad look for MLB to decide on Vegas when there are 20 better choices to move the A's. I know its not a popular opinion about MLB staying away from Vegas, but it is still mine.
