I don’t see any need for the Wild Card to be more than best of 3. I would enjoy the LDS being best of 7 to let some of these series marinate some.

It’s fine the way it is. No need to lengthen any of the series.

I love the best-of-5 format for the LDS. It adds so much weight to each game. I do admit for a sport like baseball where there’s this marathon season only for at least one round of the playoffs to be shorter then every other sport (besides football for obvious reasons), it’s weird. But I love it.

I also love a series/round taking a week at most instead of 2-3 weeks. Leagues scheduling 2-3 days off regularly in between games in the playoffs as they compete with each other for viewers on each night has taken the air out of some series. I especially noticed this in last years hockey playoffs. With the way things worked out I think there was 3 full weeks between the end of the conference championship for either EDM or FLA and the end of the final. Hated it.

I think it's fairly clear the layoff is hurting the top two seeds; extending the wild-card series is going to extend the layoff and make it worse.

I liked it the way it was with just the two wild-card teams and the single wild-card game in each league before the five-game LDS.

I would go back to a 1-game WC and transfer those 2 games to the Division Series to make it a best of 7.

Sounds like there's a chance the Rays might not be able to fix Tropicana.

One report says it could be a 9 figure fix which would be pointless since they're getting a new stadium soon.

If they're actually forced out, where could they go for a year or probably until the new stadium is done?

Oakland? I hear they have a ballpark.

Montreal? It'd be the old Olympic Stadium though.

Buffalo? Jays were forced there during the pandemic and renovated the stadium to the point of being a major league ballpark.

Dunedin? Jays also had to play regular season games there for a bit, and it's only a 40 minute drive away from Tampa.

The As playing on the road in Oakland would be such a crazy sight to see, especially if it happened a year after the move.

We've seen returns before, like NO Hornets playing in Charlotte against the Bobcats, Ravens playing in Cleveland when the Browns came back, Winnipeg Jets playing in Arizona, but this one will just feel way different.

The fact it has even a small shot of happening is crazy.

Guys, they aren't just going to uproot the team temporarily because the Trop isn't fixed lol. That's not fair to the people in the city who actually go to see them play. All 300 of them.

What option do they have then because a temp roof fix isn't worth it either.

Tropicana Field is unlikely to be ready for Rays' opening day in March because of damage from Hurricane Milton, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Different sport but didn't the Saints temporarily move after Katrina? I don't know if it was a fair enough to the 300 people that didn't leave Nawlins but it happens.

Yeah, they split "home" games between LSU and the Alamodome.

Thing with the Rays, though, is that this is likely to be a 3-season relocation.

IMO their best option is to do what the Jays did during COVID: spend April/May at a ST facility (while the Florida heat/rainfall is still manageable), then play the remainder of the season in Durham, NC (the Bulls are Tampa's AAA affiliate).
