Because Altuve is having the better year, and people thought it would be embarrassing for the league if Infante started. Even though it's just an exhibition based on fan voting, and the sport has much bigger problems to deal with. *shrug*

I wish MLB would figure out if they truly want it to be an exhibition or not, if they didn't have the asinine WS home field advantage rule I doubt they would've done anything about the Royals fans pulling a fast one.

I thought it was pretty slick how they got so many of their guys into the game, especially Infante, but my team is in the AL and if we give up home field because of that silliness I'd be ticked (not like my Tigers will be there anyway, but still)

Home field in the World Series is overrated anyways.

Home field advantage in baseball is fairly small to begin with (something like 54/46 in favor of the home team), but yeah, I can think of plenty of teams in recent memory that wished they had a home game in Game 7 of the World Series ('01 Yankees, '02 Giants, '11 Rangers).

True, but the better teams just roll along and win regardless of home/away. The Giants have built their dynasty on winning away in the playoffs.

Other than in extreme cases (remember the Metrodome?), I've always thought home field in baseball gave you only one slight advantage - you get to bat last. If I was an NL manager, I would enjoy batting my best bench hitter instead of my pitcher.

Obviously hoping Donaldson wins HRD. I want Donaldson-Machado finals though. Jays-O's players don't like each other lol. Bautista-Oday have their issues(and are now teammates on AL all star team this year), and Donaldson-Machado stuff goes back to 2014:

I would've saved a comment like that for the exclusion of Trout or Stanton or Cruz.
