Nah what's ludicrous is that people think Big Papi is clean. When he failed that test in 03 or whatever.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
On the PED thing...I know there are those who want to ignore the accomplishments of Bonds, Clemens, etc, and pretend an entire generation of baseball wasn't played. Does this also mean we need to asterisk every generation of baseball played before amphetamines were prohibited? I actually think the ban of greenies has as much of an impact on players not staying on the field as anything...yet I've never once heard Bob Costas argue that we need to look at what Mantle/Mays/Gibson did in a different light than players today who can't pop the pills just to get up for a game."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Re: MLB Off-Topic
Costas has always (conveniently) minimized the negative stigma associated with amphetamines in baseball. He compares it to pitchers scuffing baseballs, or guys trying to steal signs.Comment

I think the reason why greenies don't get talked about as much is because it's akin to being hopped up on caffeine in able to stay alert.
Not excusing the use of it, just relating the thinking behind some people brushing it under the rug.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

You could liken it to Adderall also. The drug that I think Crush Davis failed his test for a couple years ago. I take it because I have ADD and it helps me focus in class and when doing homework.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I didn't know the Braves had become a publicaly traded company but this story is funny on several levels. Although for any of you who might dabble in the stock market could be a value as a buy low point:
The Braves' season is less than a month old, and already they're plumbing new depths — not just of the NL East standings, mind you.
Sure, the team was 5-18 (.217) entering Sunday's game against the Cubs.
MORE: The Braves won a lot in the '90s, but they should've won more
But, as the Atlanta Journal-Constitution points out, the price of the team’s stock has fallen by more than half in the two weeks it has been trading on the Nasdaq exchange.
In short: The Braves aren't half as good as they used to be.
“This has been off-the-charts crazy,” New York-based stock analyst Robert Routh told the Journal-Constitution. “I never thought this would get as low as it has.”
The Braves’ Series A shares (symbol: BATRA) closed Friday at $15.64, down 56.5 percent from the opening price April 18. Series C shares (symbol: BATRK) closed Friday at $14.92, down 44.7 percent from the opening price.
But wait. There's more.
Because of a front-office mistake, the Braves faced Sunday's game a player shy of a 25-man roster, The Associated Press reported.
The team announced Sunday morning that it had selected the contract of veteran utility player Emilio Bonifacio from Triple-A Gwinnett.
One problem, The AP noted: Bonifacio isn't eligible to be on the Braves' 25-man roster until Saturday (it hasn't been 30 days since the Braves released him and then re-signed him to a minor-league contract).
Reliever Chris Withrow, sent down, already had blown the Windy City, so the Braves had only 24 players available Sunday, despite the fact Bonifacio was wandering the visitors' clubhouse Sunday morning at Wrigley.Comment

It is a rule I didn't know existed...so I get it, but then I'm not paid to know the rules. I'd expect all these front offices to have a team of people who's sole purpose in life is to know this stuff and verify every move before it's made."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Apparently ESPN aired the 'Four Days in October' 30 for 30 today, and completely removed everything about Game 6, featuring former employee Curt Schilling.Boston Red Sox
