The Yankees are considering dropping the facial hair policy. They are also considering dropping the long hair policy as well. This all stems from some push back the organization is receiving from fans and players regarding Clint Frazier.
I hope they keep it. Just another thing that makes them lame.

I've always thought their facial hair policy is lame as well. Might have been fine in 1973 when Steinbrenner hated hippies, but it's 2017 move on. Clock out now.

Yankees need to get rid of the policy, is it a big deal? No it's not, but it's just so pointless. These guys are playing baseball, not working at Wall Street.

        It's incredibly lame.

My freakin D3 college baseball coach had that rule. It was so lame. We pretty much all hated that man.

Look at the Marlins last season. Most guys still grew their facial hair out.

That rule exists in hockey too. Leafs have it because of their gm who's real old school too(has been in the league for over 3 decades), but he's at least respected and liked so nobody minds it, and he's only here for a few years too while the assistant gm learns the ropes.

The Head Coach when I was Pitching Coach at Redlands had it, too. I couldn't stand it.

I can see why because I'm kinda sick of players looking like slobs (Brian Wilson, Johnny Damon come to mind) and I personally prefer the "professional" look but it's a pretty absurd rule, really. One that I've taken issue with on a personal level too. Facial hair was only for seniors in HS and I got in trouble once. Let's just say I got suspended once.

Something discussed during WBC game today was the Olympics and how baseball is added to it. Don't believe MLB players will be allowed to play during it in 2020, but what about minor league players? Also, they said if LA gets Olympics in 2024, MLB might actually have players going?

If that's the case, we'll actually see a 2 week break in August for the Olympics or what? Does regular season start earlier? No ASG? World Series STARTING in November?

The Olympics didn't change the MLB schedule in 2000 or 2008.

That's what I'm saying. In the 2 years the US qualified, the amount of MLB players participating had no effect on the schedule.

No idea who was a Major Leaguer, but here's the 2 rosters.

                            2000

                            2008

EDIT: I'm using this timeframe because 2000 was the first time players didn't have to be amateurs, the US didn't qualify in 2004, and 2008 was the last competition.

EDIT2: and for a player that's established in the Majors, that's probably more important than the Olympics, so this could be a moot point in 3 years.

Clint Frazier talked to Girardi and decided to cut his hair after agreeing that the media had made it a distraction. Lol just like I figured.

His hair didn't cause the distraction though, the club rule did. Take the rule out, and it's not a distraction. If he was on the White Sox, no big deal would have been made whatsoever.

I mean his hair might have still been a distinct feature of his all told, but I don't particularly think that is the fuss here.
