Re: MLB Off-Topic
Interesting stat I wouldn't know the answer to without needing to research it. Note that this popped up on my "tear off page" Giants themed calendar (every day has trivia).
Alright, who led the Giants in stolen bases during Barry Bonds' record-breaking 73-homer season in 2001?
Answer:SpoilerBarry Bonds, with 13
I guess the answer surprises you a bit since this is a post-1998 Bonds getting the loot of steals, not to mention in a year when he mostly spent time at the plate hitting dingers (though he did walk a bunch, but to be fair normally there would be a runner in front of him in the IBB's so you couldn't steal), but the really peculiar value is that nobody else eclipsed 13 SB's for that team
Maybe I don't pay attention to SB numbers enough, but doesn't that seem kind of low for a team? Thinking back on the team though, you also had Kent, Snow, Aurilia, a catcher (I'm guessing Santiago), etc. so not too many base-stealing threats there, but you'd think somewhere of the other four position players including the lead-off hitter, that you'd get a few more than that.
Then again, I'm guessing if the lead-off hitter stole that much, Bonds would get the automatic IBB as well with that open first base. I suppose the number is not that surprising after all.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
^ I'm trying not yet to see the answer, but are you talking about a hitter or a pitcher?
Either way, I'll bite and try later if I'm wrong... is it Rick Ankiel?Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I was a bit confused by the question myself but since I know the answer I can tell you he's looking for the most consecutive strikeouts by a Cardinals pitcher and it isn't Ankiel.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
The report on the Jose Fernandez incident is out and it really looks like he had a deathwish. He had that boat going 65 mph when it crashed!
Investigation concludes that Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez was driving boat in fatal crash. Fernandez also had a .147 blood alcohol level and "noted presence" of cocaine in his system.
A really tough position for Fernandez's family, aside from their obvious loss, to be in because they/his estate face tons of litigation (wrongful death) for his actions.

Looks like Josh Donaldson is way ahead of guys like Blzer and I, he hit a bomb in a minor league game and was in the dugout by the time the ball landed. The future is bright boys...Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it
