I don't disagree at all. In fact, I wrote that exactly.

I just felt that "27 up, 27 down" more so meant "facing the minimum."

Sam Dyson going to be DFA'd. Apparently some teams have shown interested so he's likely to be traded.

What a fall this guy had from the WBC to today.

A change of scenery may be the best thing for him.

Reds fans love him as we showed the other day when he came back to Cincy in a Braves uniform, but come on...

He does know he plays for the Braves now right? Guy sure concerns himself with a lot of what his former team is doing.

So did anyone see where Peter Gammons is reporting that Harper wants to be a Cub? I don't see anyway the Cubs can make that happen...Bryant is going to be making all of their money by that point.

Serious question, has Peter Gammons reported anything anyone takes seriously since 2004?

Makes sense that he wants to be, but there's no way the Cubs give him enough money.

Sadly, Gammons like a lot of older reporters just doesn't have that pipeline to info as they once did. Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun (who is also a Spinx Award winner) used to know EVERYONE in the Blue Jays organization has to scrounge around and hope that he can get any useful information these days.

Red Sox Hall member Jimmy Piersall passed away today. His history of struggling with bipolar disorder is sad, but as he put it "Probably the best thing that ever happened to me was going nuts. Who ever heard of Jimmy Piersall, until that happened?"

Also, this write-up of Pujols reaching 600 is REALLY good.

It makes sense. A lot of Gammons' generation of sources are either retired or deceased. Gammons is functionally retired, imo.

All that said about Gammons, I grew up with him as THE baseball source. He will always be a baseball insider to me...everyone gets old, but I will always remember him from the late 1980's/early 1990's.

Don't think anyone posted this. But Hawk Harrelson is retiring after next season. He is going to be doing like 20 games, for the White Sox next year mostly Sunday games and odd games throughout the season, iirc.
