I watched 429 games of baseball this year. I know this because I logged them all. You can view them here.

Nice...great idea. I've never logged the games I've watched, but I know I'm always in the hundreds. I usually watch/follow 3 games or so a night...I definitely don't have the college games that you do though as I usually only watch/follow the Gators.

So the Binghamton Mets have changed their name to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Really?

This apparently was the name chosen between it and Bullheads, Gobblers, Rocking Horses, Stud Muffins, and Timber Jockeys.

        Is this for real????

The team formally known as the the Binghamton Mets announced their new name, logos and colors Thursday.

There was a similar thing with the Yankees minor league affiliate on Staten Island. It's amazing rhe names that end up on the finalist list, you just look at them like "What idiot wants to root for a team called the Stud Muffins?"

Sad part about this and even logos of better sounding teams, are that people actually get paid money to come up with it.

Yeah, but as a pure baseball fan...nothing can come close, right? Anytime I think of a great WS game, I think of the 1991 game 7 WS (since I'm a Braves fan); it still pains me...but as a baseball fan, it was such a great great game.

Yeah as a baseball fan it was a great game and great series. As a Rangers fan it will be one that is still hard to get over.

                        1991 WS
                        2001 WS

I still think the BEST WS game ever was STL/TEX game 6 in 2011 (STL tied the game in the 9th with 2 runs, then tied it again in the bottom of the 10th with 2 runs and won it in the 11th). I don't believe in my lifetime anything will ever beat that game.
                        I'd rank it:

                        1991
                        2016
                        2001

Definitely not the BEST world series but this has to be the best Game 7 i've personally ever seen for a mix of the craziness on the field and the history of the moment.

I think I have a similar relationship with the 04 ALCS. As a Yankees fan, it makes me terribly sad that everything went down the way it did. But as a baseball fan... Man it kills me that they just decided to cancel the rest of the postseason after we went up 3-0, it's a shame there was no more baseball to be played that year...

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. I mean, the base call system is already 90% automated (though as we've seen it can still fail when there isn't enough clear evidence to overturn a bad call on the field).

The floating strike zone influenced the early/middle parts of the game too much. Ultimately the game was decided by the players though, so I'm thankful for that.

Real Sports recently had a segment on it, seems like the issue is the umpires not wanting it. I remember Jerry Crawford saying its not needed because umpires make right calls 90 percent of the time (MLB saying 97) meanwhile a study showed its only 88. Then Jerry Crawford has the nerve to say progress isn't good for baseball. Here is a part of the segment showing how Pitch f/x works:
