We would love to have him in LA. There really isn't many job openings left. The Twins, but the job looks to be Paul Molitor's. Unless he takes a bench coach job somewhere.

Me personally i would love for him to go to the Cubs since Theo probably will be spending some money this off season for front of the line pitching and wants to Contend next yeae
But Rick was just hired last year and he didn't do too bad since some of the talent in the Majors now
But maybe he will take a year off and see if Andrew will need a new manager next year or other offers cause most are filledComment

You guys are all wrong. He wants to go to the Twins and turn that tire fire around, so everyone will heap praises upon his genius again. I will not be hearing any logical arguments that oppose my dream.Comment

I absolutely hate Joe Maddon. Yeah, hate is a strong word...it applies here. Could not be happier to see him take his know it all *** out of the AL East. Rays just became that much more likable.Comment

Few things here.
The Dodgers are paying Friedman $35 million.
There is some though Maddon could go to LA and actually become the GM rather than manage.
Maddon's agent believes he will manage a team in 2015. The Twins are logical, Cubs make some sense as well. Idk what other options there are for him unless Mattingly gets canned in LA.Comment

Apparently the Mets are extremely interested as well. Terry Collins wasn't extended so.....we shall see.
Bigger question, who do the Rays go after?I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Easy, promote Dave Martinez as manager. He's been the heir in waiting for so long there though they'll need to act fast if it's true that Maddon is going to the Cubs as I could see Martinez saying "screw this!" and go to Cubbie Land.
It's not a surprise that Maddon has decided to bolt when Friedman left. He's no fool as he can see the writing on the wall. The gravy train is about to stop for Tampa because EVERY small market team eventually runs out of gas and reverts to what you expect out of them. Even Billy Beane had to go through that with his Athletics teams as they went through a rebuild stage from '07-'11. Tampa looks to be heading in that direction. The scary thing is, they barely draw flies with a winning team so I don't know if that market can survive 4-5 years of sub .500 baseball.
As for Maddon going to the Cubs, that makes perfect sense. I feel bad for Rick Renteria but I think he will understand that this is totally a business move for the better. One thing Maddon does well is instill confidence in his players and brings a positive work environment to the fore. I know we all laugh and titter at some of the more strange things the Rays have done but you can't deny that it makes for a fun experience so long as you bust your butt on the field.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

There's a difference between giving a vote of confidence, versus definitively saying their guy is coming back. Both the Dodgers and Mets said their managers are coming back for the 2015 season.Comment
