Things not looking too hot for Addison Russell. On the field or off.

Melisa Reidy-Russell detailed allegations of abuse during her marriage to Addison Russell, which led to the Cubs shortstop being put on leave by Major League Baseball.

I will withhold judgment (such that it matters, which it doesn't), but I don't see any reason to doubt his accuser/ex-wife. I hope the Cubs and MLB investigate this accordingly.

I think what's telling and probably VERY bad for Russell from a professional standpoint is that this investigation has been ongoing since last year. This does very little to help him. I could foresee something similar to what Roberto Osuna got if this ends up being true. Maybe not quite 75 games as there doesn't seem to be a legal proceeding but It'll definitely be over 50.

If this is true than I feel terrible for his ex wife.

The length of the investigation could also just be because she didn't want to testify for them so they're having to go through back channels trying to find out what they can from people close.

Looks like he's on administrative leave as of today, this might be the most informative account they've gotten so far.

Jeff Banister is out as Rangers manager.

Which is really too bad. I felt like he had them headed in the right direction.

EDIT: Don Wakamatsu to finish out the season as interim. Assuming they conduct a full search in the offseason.

EDIT 2 ELECTRIC BOOGALOO: Orioles are expected to part ways with Showalter after the season.

It's ridiculous how much talent is in this game right now...and so young. I think that is one benefit of PED's going out of the game; for a 30 year period the older guys were playing longer and taking roster spots of younger players. Now, teams are paying the younger guys. Hard to believe Betts is only 25...

I can't believe Harper is only 25. Younger than Aaron Judge and has been in the Bigs for 6 years.

For the first time in 14 years, the National League has won more interleague games than the American League after Pittsburgh beat Kansas City for the League's 151st IL win.

Glad to see that Giants' ownership has been reading my posts griping about how the Giants have given up. Bad team, horrible roster construction, let the axe fall. Better luck next time.

Bobby Evans has been dismissed as Giants general manager and will be reassigned within the organization, the team said.

I may be the only Giants fan who isn't "loyal" to our homegrown players. I like what I like, I don't what I don't, and I'll take what I'll take.

Never liked Belt. Stubborn hitter. He has a good glove and knows his strike zone, but that's it. Vastly overrated in the eyes of the contract extension he had. I don't have much to say about him other than we could have done better for what the position demands offensively.

I think Posey is very good at everything he does well and is worth being the face of the franchise, but he ain't a #4 hitter and he is a soft-spoken leader among a bunch of soft-spoken leaders. I don't need him to go away, but the second he moves from being a catcher to anything else he immediately loses his value.

Crawford is good, great glove and such... I don't know, of the homegrown guys I think I like him the most, but he is so loud when his offense is good that it just shows how quiet things are when it's not. If he was .280 with 20 home runs every year in the #6-7 spot then I would love every bit that we have from him. Man though, him and the two aforementioned players are so vanilla-boring. I wish they would light a fuse under the team's ***, really starting with Crawford. He had a chance to take over the team last year from under Posey's wing, and it just didn't really happen.

I'm still trying to figure out Joe Panik. I actually adore his fundamentals, so I question why it never panned out. I guess it's just one of those things that says a good swing doesn't necessarily make a good hitter. Miss one inch above or below the sweet spot and it's a can-of-corn grounder or pop-up, and if you don't have the bat speed or power you just aren't going to hit the ball out enough. He's a guy you want to do well, but since he's not you just can't be too clingy. The problem is he has lost all of his value.

I'm tired of Bumgarner. I like him when he pitches, but that's it. He literally tries to hit a home run every at-bat and it just doesn't pan out, and his little antics staring down opponents, umpires, his coaching staff, etc. is just wearing me thin. The only reason I'll take it is because he seems to be the only person who gives a **** from the homegrown crew, but he has to leave it to actual concerning matters and not any of the between-the-lines crap. Look to Scherzer for somebody who is playing with only fire and none of the in-between chud.

My favorite Giants of the past few years have been Hunter Pence and Nick Hundley, simply because of the way they play the game and the heart they carry on the field, with a selfless demeanor that still shows a genuine concern for themselves and their team. Total winners in my book, even if they don't always get the job done (especially Pence as of late, which is really just too bad). The Giants don't seem to get enough of these players. If the Giants got Yelich like I've been pining for all along, he would be everybody's favorite off-season acquisition like ever. This is a guy that is impossible not to root for, and he delivers like nobody's business. Hell, the guy is possibly about to win an MVP for crying out loud. Getting Longoria and McCutchen? Sideways steps, especially Longoria who we're stuck for the next few years. They are just not handling contracts right at all, and it shows with their performances.

And finally, this is really bad to say... but it might be time for Bochy to go. The whole clubhouse is stinking of too much traditionality that it's just not conducive to success anymore, at least not when everyone else is adapting to this new wave of being. I wanted to fire him on the spot from an emotional standpoint when he out-managed himself against the Cubs in Game 4 of the 2016 NLDS, but now I'm thinking we just have to wipe the whole slate clean. It's not even a matter of his inabilities, really... it's just time for a new voice, I think.

Anyway, it's time to shake the whole thing up.

I would not be surprised if the Giants go for a younger more analytics driven front office next season. That might lead to Bochy stepping aside. I'm of two minds about it as I think he's a very good manager but on the other hand things may have gotten stale and while he isn't a TOTAL dinosaur he's still somewhat out of the current mainstream thinking.

It might actually benefit the franchise to completely blow it up and start anew.

Osuna agrees to peace bond (but emphasizing this isn't an admission of guilt), and the assault charges have been withdrawn.

Regardless what may or may not have happened, obviously Jays had to deal him. Listen to reaction he got last night. No way Jays could've kept him, especially being owned by a publicly traded company. And still made out fine. Ken Giles has been great since that horrible Boston appearance, Paulino has been good so far in his MLB time, and Perez who people hyped up as the name to look at in this deal could have shot at majors next year.
