Re: MLB Off-Topic
I spent the summer and fall riding Amtrak’s Hiawatha train from Chicago to Milwaukee, helping Bud Selig write his autobiography. I’m happy to say the manuscript has been submitted and Harper Collins has set a July release date for the book, titled “For the Good of the Game.’’Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I can see your grievances and naturally Halladay is getting the "he died young" bump but I do think overall he's better than Mussina. That being said, Mussina shouldn't be wilting on the vine like he is right now. The guy played his entire career in the AL East during the heart of the Steroid Era. He put up some GREAT numbers.
Of course i'm biased toward Halladay but even before he died I thought he's a 1st or 2nd year guy for enshrinement.
I listed the guys eligible to get in based on the first public numbers.
I also don't mind the Halladay vs Mussina debate. Not picking a side.
It's just ridiculous to me that for every argument these writers had against Mussina, that just brushed it aside for Halladay. Their careers are much closer than most would probably think.
It's just criminal that Mussina sits around waiting years to get in and because Halladay dies (not trying to say I don't care that he died. It's awful) Halladay is getting nearly 12% more votes than Mussina.
It doesn't make sense.

Don't get me wrong, I think Halladay is a Hall of Famer.

I just realized the hall is a joke a while ago. And alot of cases where guys got in were just popularity contests.

I doubt he takes much blame, I fully expect him to either skip collusion or say something like "player salaries were getting out of hand and we had to protect ourselves". Wonder how much will be revealed that we don't already know, hopefully we get some bodies unburied.Last edited by DieHardYankee26; 12-29-2018, 06:13 AM.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: MLB Off-Topic
With 128 ballots revealed, and 31% of the votes known, the 2019 class would be
Mariano Rivera (100%)
Roy Halladay (94.2)
Edgar Martinez (91.4)
Mike Mussina (82)
Roger Clemens (75)
if the voting ended today. Bonds is currently at 74.2%Last edited by TripleCrown9; 12-29-2018, 03:04 PM.Boston Red Sox

Encouraging to see ClemEns and Bonds making headway...would love to see them get in if only to see Verducci/Costas/Morgan lose it."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

As much as I really, really detest Curt Schilling as a person, if Mussina and Halladay get in, then Schilling needs to get in also.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Agreed; and we need to stop the "person" vetting. You are in for your on the field accomplishments, period. Schilling might be a loser, but he's far from the worst "person" in the HOF if he gets there."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. Re: MLB Off-Topic
The mature can distinguish between a guys career in sports and what he did off the field.
O.J Simpson comes to mind. Another sport but one of the better backs ever. Back on topic.
Schilling is an easy Hof'er. I'm a yankee fan and I'm saying this.
Pete Rose, Bonds, Clemens, Schilling, Michael Myers. Just push them all in.

I mean, if someone got sent down for murder, rape, abusing kids etc etc, I wouldn't want them anywhere near the HoF, regardless of their on field achievements.Comment
