    3) An itinerant population of tourists that aren't necessarily inclined to plop down for baseball games. The idea that a lot of the permanent residents of the area are service workers (housekeepers, card dealers, bartenders, cooks, etc) with relatively low incomes. Is this not true anymore?
    1. Leagues were always worried about gambling and "Pete Rose" situations. These days there is no incentive for players to even think that way since they make sooooooooooooo much money now. And gambling is everywhere now. That mute point now.

    2. 39th media market, but the Golden Knights sellout every game. I'm sure the Raiders will sellout as well. It's a city that was begging for sports and when they finally got a pro team here everyone showed up.

    3. Not really the case anymore. Vegas has a 2+ population that continues to grow and as the Raiders move in it will increase. There are more jobs here than just bartending, housekeeping, and card dealers. Vegas is more than just the strip.

What's funny is the strip really isn't even in Vegas.

It's what most people think when it comes to Vegas. Blame TV and movies for that.

          Re: MLB Off-Topic

Okay chaps, I just did some research and am making up my own trivia question here.

Only one team didn't have any active managers play for them at the MLB level at any time. Which team is that?

Now, for a significantly harder question:

Which team had the most active managers play for them at the MLB level?

For the sake of these questions, the Expos and the Nationals count as one team.

What makes the second question extremely hard is that while this team had 7 active managers play for them, there are four other teams to have 6, and another seven that have 5. Narrowing it down is incredibly difficult.

If it helps, here is the active managers list (not listing those without MLB service):

          Spoiler

And then as a very helpful hint for the second question:

Anyone see the guy who signed a contract with Oakland because he threw some pitches at one of those radar gun booths during a game? He hit 96...always wanted to have something like that happen and this guy actually is living it!

Apparently the guy throws about 93 off of the mound. He was hitting 96 with a little crow hop help at the park. The guy was a pitcher before, obviously, but it will be interesting to see if he ever even makes it to AAA. That alone would be big in my opinion.

Unless there is more to the story, it sounds like a publicity stunt. There are tons of ballplayers who throw 93. A lot fewer throw 96, but I'm sure they have them all over their system. He's obviously a ballplayer of some sort and maybe he just needed the right notice, who knows.

Does remind me of Rookie of the Year, though.

I read that the Vegas economy is about $112B and $60B of that is tourism. I also read that about half of Vegas' workforce is involved with tourism/hospitality. Granted, those aren't all low-paying jobs by any means, but I don't think it's necessarily incorrect to emphasize the tourism factor here.

You don't think more people are going to go to A's games now so they can't see that guy pitch in A-ball?
