    Re: MLB Off-Topic

The Braves have placed 4 of their 6 minor league teams into the playoffs...the last time they placed 4 teams into the playoffs in one year was 1989. That worked out pretty well for the next decade or so...I hope it does this time as well.

If any team in the league needs to go back to an old look, it's the Brewers. Rays are a close 2nd.

At least on Brewers front, there's hope since they are using a modernized version of their old logo as an alternate. Something the Penguins did in the NHL before finally making it the permanent primary.

        Errr... what?

I sure hope you don't mean their first uniforms.

And although the second set wasn't bad, unless you just want them to go back to green, it's not significantly better than what they have now.

I liked Devil Rays look better than the Rays one.

            No way on Tampa.

I do think Arizona needs to stop the shenanigans and go back to 2001 unis.

I actually like the DBacks look. Meaning their logos, not those new multi-toned jerseys they got now. I like their snakehead logo the most of all the ones they had.

So this redditor has a guide to watch almost every game from 2009 to present on youtube.

It's a long post but worth reading.

It's a near surety that Atlanta signs Tebow...GM says there's "no risk" involved.

Ya, during the game the other night the announcers on the radio were laying out the "plan"...honestly, I don't mind it. They plan to sign him and send him to the minor league instructional league this fall. Not only does this give them a chance to evaluate Tebow, but having him among the 19-21 year old prospects is something they like. Depending on how he does in instructional camp, they want to get him into a winter ball league...if that still goes well, they want to make him the starting RF on the AA team next year. That team is really hurting for a power hitter and their hope is that he can help them. At any point if they determine he's not cutting it, they will part ways and only be out $100K.

It was interesting to hear them talk about the Braves' top 2 scouts went to his tryout...both went more out of curiosity than anything, but came away very impressed. They said he reminded them of Travis Hefner at the plate and the thing that impressed them the most was his bat speed. During the simulated game he only missed ONE fastball which showed them he has the bat speed to hit major league pitching. The only question is can he put it all together...

No hard feelings towards Tebow for using his celebrity to gain a contract with an MLB organization. I do however feel for the poor kids having to deal with extra media that is sure to hang around once Tebow reports. Not ideal when attempting to chase your baseball dreams. Don't know how well most of them will be equipped to deal with that kind of thing so early in their development process.

I just wonder how big of a deal this is. I understand Tebow is a name, but this isn't Jordan or anything. I wonder how long people will even care if he gets to AA and sucks for 3 weeks. He'll just be another guy IMO

That's life. Right or wrong, some folks are awarded oppertunity over others for a variety of reasons. In this case it's Tebow's celebrity.

Not long if he stinks. But he did sign with the Mets. So you have to factor in the role the NY media will play. Story will provide plenty of page views at the beginning.
