It's too bad a combination of pitching too soon before the All Star Game and having a bit of a back issue precludes Estrada getting the starting nod. He's well deserving of his spot on the roster.

Addison Russell is proof why the fans shouldn't be allowed to vote All-Star Game participants in any way, shape or form.

He's on there simply because of the team he plays for. Brandon Crawford, Corey Seager, and Aledmys Diaz are all more deserving.

On an entirely different topic, it seems the Gold Glove award also pertains to a player more so who brings in the offensive numbers as well. Jason Heyward will be an exception to this, but Brandon Crawford seemed to be, time and again, the perennial GG leading candidate, and it took a really good offensive season last year for him to finally "earn" it.

This is coming from a guy who saw Andrelton Simmons every day on the Braves. Crawford was still the superior defender.
