He's also pretty upset of people asking him to try and do more after this. He is done and done for sure, no matter what the Dodgers do or what money is thrown at him.

I'll respect his illustrious, long-tenured career for sure, but would like to hear something from his younger years, because I personally find his delivery pretty boring (more than likely a factor of his age).

If you can somehow get yesterday's Rich Eisen show he was on and they did a fantastic showcasing his entire career in clouding his younger years throughout the show.

Ah I didn't realize Vin wasn't going to call the Dodgers in the playoffs if they make it. I respect his decision. The man has given his heart to the game he deserves to go out the way he wants to.

        Much respect to Vin.

Ya, at least he'll know when his last game will be, unlike in playoffs when you never know which one will be the last one.

Alright so I misreported a couple days ago why Preller was suspended. He actually mandated that the Padres keep two organize medicals into two different piles one of which was to be private to the Padres. In the "public" was all the major injury news, that would send a player to the DL. But in the other was preventative measures and treatment specifics. So that's why the Sox and Marlins had no idea about the lingering arm issues to Bomberanz and Colin Rea respectively. All this came from Olney's blog posted earlier today.

              Interesting Q&A with Teixeira:

Q: You’ve played through an era of performance-enhancing drugs. How tempted were you to use them?

A: I was never tempted. It’s cheating. It’s wrong. My parents raised me the right way. They had zero tolerance for drugs when I was a kid.

When I started playing professional baseball, I told myself, “If I have to take drugs to play this game, I’ll quit.” It’s not worth it. I stuck to that. And I’m proud of sticking with it.

It’s tough for me to accept that guys are trying to cheat and are still allowed to play the game. If you’re on Wall Street and you get charged with insider trading and you’re convicted, you don’t trade anymore. If you’re at Harvard and you start cheating on tests, you’re getting kicked out.

We’ve done a better job. But guys that are trying to cheat, it’s very tough for me to accept that they’re allowed to stay in the game.
Q: The game itself. Do you think overall it is in a good place?

A: I think it’s in a good place, but there are tweaks that need to be made. The games are way too long. I think we have to make the game more fun for young kids. But (commissioner) Rob Manfred understands that kids need to get more involved in watching the game and playing the game.

I don’t have the answers. I just know that when I was a kid I watched baseball religiously. My kids these days have way too many options. There is a league for every sport. There are after-school activities, everything from Lego building to arts and crafts to music. You get on Apple TV and you can watch whatever you want, at any time of the day. They don’t sit in front of the TV and watch a three-hour baseball game.

I think that is going to start catching up to baseball. I have faith in the sanctity of the sport — we won’t change it too much. But we’ll still make it better for kids.

BTW - if the Cubs do win it all this year you have to change your screen name...maybe to "Thisisnextyear" or something like that.

Let's not put the cart ahead of the horse just yet, lol. However, I'd be happy to consider a name change if it means a Cubs title has happened.

You have to work a Bartman reference into your name or avatar somehow.

There's so many cool Vin Scully stats.

My favorite that I've heard so far is that he called games started by pitchers born 80 years apart, Preacher Roe and Julio Urias.
