Red Sox DFA Pablo Sandoval. Bet they wish they still had Travis Shaw around.

Sandoval's belt breaking on a swing and miss in Toronto is the only memory I have of him in a Red Sox uniform. Good riddance.

Wow, what the hell has happened to Sammy Sosa?! That's pretty disturbing and sad.

As for Sandoval well, that was a terrible waste wasn't it? I think his career is pretty much over as an impact player or hell, maybe as a player period.

So anyone seen what's happened to Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi? As employees with Fox Sports their main job is basically over and they're effectively free agents. (well Rosenthal is) The Fox sports website is now all video with ZERO written content. How in the world do you have arguably the preeminent baseball writer of the present day being shunted to the side like that?! Rosenthal has taken to Facebook to write his articles now until he finds a new writing gig. This is just INSANITY.

Morosi for his part, saw the writing on the wall and is working full time on the writing side with MLB.com.

I'm old so I gotta think this is the way of the future.
I've noticed on TSN, IGN, and other sites, that there are fewer and fewer written articles and more video content.
I must be one of the few who would choose reading an article over watching/listening to it.
But I'm guessing the younger folk don't feel the same way. They live on their phones.

I really enjoy Rosenthal's work - or any written work from a competent sports reporter really.

                    This is sad news indeed.

They can't wait for technology to control every aspect of their life, or have social media at their fingertips on every object they own.
Meanwhile, people 40+ don't want anyone but themselves controlling their car.
I'm going to blame Skynet on that.

I can't wait for MLB-N to poach away Kurkjan from ESPN.

I presume that Rosenthal would go to MLB.com as well right? He'd be a pretty hot commodity given the prestige with his name.

I don't know, I think ESPN knows what they have in Kurkjian. I don't see them letting him get away.

I have no idea when the **** it became reasonable and preferable to make everything on the Internet video-based.

I thought this was a cool read about old uniforms: http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/1...ll-mlb-zippers

I had no idea teams used to have zippers instead of buttons.

Just watched the Indians dynasty story on MLB-Network and found something to be interesting. The Expos OFFERED Pedro to Cleveland for Jaret Wright and Bartolo Colon in the winter of 1997 (albeit a 1-year rental as Boston traded for him and then signed him to the richest contract at the time). Colon was still a prospect and Jaret Wright just pitched an incredible 7th game in the WS and was 21 years old.

                                What's interesting is two things:
                                1) Think of how different MLB would've been in the late 90s/early 00s if Pedro did indeed go to Cleveland. Lots of if/thens with whether NYY would've been beaten that year, maybe Manny stays in Cleveland vs. go to BOS, etc...
                                2) Colon would've been involved in a blockbuster trade with Pedro. Instead, he was involved in one of the more lopsided trades in MLB history (Colon to MON while CLE gets Grady Sizemore, Cliff Lee and Brandon Phillips). Strikes me as intriguing how valued Colon was to Montreal thru the years and more so, how he could've been and still was part of a huge deal.
