^Everything has changed for their stadium plans due to the pandemic. Now that Oakland basically has to sell the remaining half of the Coliseum to the A’s (for financial reasons), the most likely option they are going to go with is build on the current site and then develop that area out.

(That was previously their priority but since the city owned half the Colisseum, they could never come to terms).

Because of where they are at financially, building on a new site is somewhat more unrealistic.

Yeah, I don't know too many of the ins and outs of it especially regarding the financial situation, but I was mostly just pointing to the idea that stadium designs sometimes have to come equipped with the location of where you build the thing. Even though the three Cisco Field designs are all within the same familial idea, the initial one was heads above the rest IMO. All of those surrounding buildings would be part of the idea of "developing the area out," which you know as well as I do everything around Hegenberger needs an entire overhaul.

NFL is a whole other situation. Rivalries are main reason why they are keeping that. Although geographical reasons don't impact NFL like other sports since NFL mainly just has weekend games and 1 game a week for teams. Not like other sports where you're traveling to 2 or 3 diff cities a week, playing Wednesday 7pm local time games or something.

But MLB changing things up would've been better. 4 divisions could be:
West:
Dodgers
Angels
Giants
Padres
Dbacks
Mariners
As
Rockies

South:
Rays
Marlins
Braves
Rangers
Astros
Royals
Cards

North:
Jays
Indians
Tigers
Twins
Brewers
Sox
Cubs

Well, if it goes down to the ****ing stupid universal DH hereon out then I don't see why they don't just do this. I can't believe they are doing the DH thing, though.

For now. I'm guessing he's opting in for the season but the way he and Shaw reacted to the restrictions, you never know.

As for contract, he's under contract for 3 or 4 more seasons. I could see Jays dealing him before that if Martin manages to come up to the big leagues before the end of Grichuks deal.

found a Mariners intrasquad game from Saturday on youtube. bare bones practice but it's still better than all the MLB games from April May & June

steal is a harsh word, I prefer to think of it as permanently borrowing. also, my personal filter is broken and that gets me into a lot of hot water here so I've taken to finding your 15 year old previous posts, copy and pasting them to today's OS as my own. people cant understand why I bring up Inception in the How's Your Weather thread

Was playing OOTP and hit 3 doubles in a row and it made me wonder what the record is for most doubles hit in consecutive at bats by one team during a game. Tried searching but other doubles streaks came up.

Anyone know?

Can't say that I know, but I'm certain three has happened before.

It amazes me the kinds of things that MLB, ESPN, Yahoo, etc. can come up with when it comes to stats like this. All it takes is a database and the right command to surface what they need, but what's really surprising is the fact that they can come up with it in the first place.

I can't think of a real example right now, but something like "Not since 1996 has a single player hit two home runs in a game following a batter who was intentionally walked in both plate appearances." Or something really obscure like: "This is the first time in MLB history that a starting lineup had five players 25 or younger sharing the same last initial."

Like, I get that they can get these records upon command, but how do they even think to look this up in the first place? It's not like it will automatically spit out for them. It's just weird.
