Looks like it’s 5 by the Washington Senators in 1934 against Boston. It’s in the facts box at the bottom on this link.

Mets bidder Alex Rodriguez calls for players to accept salary-cap system.

NEW YORK -- Alex Rodriguez, among the bidders for a possible purchase of the New York Mets, called for baseball players to accept the type of revenue-sharing system that is tied to a salary cap and sparked quick opposition from the union.

Following the collapse of labor talks dealing with the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic, relations between Major League Baseball and the players' association are at the lowest point in a quarter-century. The sides appear headed to a spring training lockout in 2022.

Preparing for the start of his third season as an analyst on ESPN's Sunday night telecasts, Rodriguez said players' leverage had changed since they fought off the owners' salary-cap proposal with a 7½-month strike in 1994-95. He said the rise of the NFL and NBA had changed the equation along with digital media, and said the players' association should work collaboratively with MLB to raise the sport's market share.

"The only way it's going to happen is if they get to the table and say the No. 1 goal, let's get from $10 to $15 billion and then we'll split the economics evenly," he said Thursday during a conference call. "But that's the type of conversation instead of fighting and fighting against each other because there's too much competition out there right now."

Baseball players have resisted the salary-cap and revenue-sharing approaches used by the NFL, NBA and NHL.

"Alex benefited as much as anybody from the battles this union fought against owners' repeated attempts to get a salary cap," union head Tony Clark said in a statement. "Now that he is attempting to become an owner himself his perspective appears to be different. And that perspective does not reflect the best interests of the players."
        Unbelievable.

Wish it was surprising, Jordan was one of the most staunch hardline owners during that negotiation. Climbing the ladder and kicking it down is the American way.

You want baseball to have the insufferable, repeated drama of hostage-taking players like other leagues, forcing trades pennies on the dollar to rectify cap problems and contract situations and having them congregate on super teams and whatnot, that's how you do it.

God. What a horrible horrible horrible HORRIBLE idea.

that's actually disappointing, in the entire history of MLB the record is 5 doubles in a row?

edit: seriously though, how can ESPN Stats & Info look up these numbers so easily? I want to know how to search this stuff

but not if I have to turn of my adblocker

They have database programming software, possibly such as SQL or something or another. From there, with the proper command prompts, you can get that thing to bring up anything you want it to at the drop of a hat.

                      Just rewatched the 2019 HRD.

How insane was that Vlad vs Pederson round! Best HRD ever. That's Gordon vs LaVine level great.

It was definitely the best one. Very exciting to watch!

The time limit on Home Run Derby is the best thing Manfred has put in place.

I got $5 that should be more than enough to buy the Mets.

Right, for once he actually had a good idea about something.

If there was a way the pitcher could be certain to throw the strike that the hitter wants, I'd be fine going back to the old format and making it "any pitch that's not a home run is an out," but we can't make that happen. The problem before of course is how many pitches that would be taken, which was understandable given the rules and their tiredness/lack of want for pitch location, but now that the rules have changed it makes pressing them have a lot more action.

The only problem now is you miss some home runs sometimes, or some follow-throughs. They need to make sure the rule is totally enforced regarding when they can throw the next pitch, and they can't cheat that. I think Bryce Harper and pops were going a little prematurely on pitches, for example.
