I mean if the Super Bowl doesn't have 100% attendance (and most in attendance were like health care workers lol), why should a Texas Rangers baseball game get that? No offense.

Only issue I see is the hypocrisy/inconsistency of it. By only having the first game at full capacity you are acknowledging that you don't think it's an entirely safe thing to do. Either have them all at full capacity or have them all limited. Regardless, it'll be a cool sight to see on opening day. Normal is coming back.

In MLB version of "things that took you so long to realize"....The Chicago White Stockings were the first NL and AL champs, with the NL version being the eventual Cubs.

And the MLB "merged" in 2000. I never knew that.

Although I feel the universal DH will feel more like the merger than whatever happened in 2000 did.

Edit- Just realized the game in question is against the Jays! Now I really don't like this. Not just a risk for the fans, but a risk for the players too. Sucks seeing Jays not able to play at home due to all the rules up here, but now they'll be playing in the most at risk game in the league.

Yeah, MLB protocols will still be in place so I can't imagine there will be any contact between fans and players. It's not like they're going to be signing autographs before the game.

Still a really bad idea to have 100 per cent capacity. There were some Champions League games in Europe before the lockdown that were at full capacity and turned into super spreader events. Although, I haven't heard of any outbreaks at places in the U.S. after football games where there was like 25 per cent capacity.

Yeah definitely a strange decision to go full capacity for just one game. IDK if its a good idea to go full capacity at this point, but hey, no one is forcing anyone to go watch a Rangers game so anyone who feels like it's too big a risk can stay home. Personally I feel like the 40-50% is a decent sweet spot until the vaccine has been widely distributed (hopefully sometime this summer). It shouldn't be too difficult to socially distance at a giant outdoor stadium.

And someone like what we saw with the Lakers/Hawks game sitting in the front row.

And we know people don't wear masks properly. Have a rule, but not enforcing it means nothing. Leagues can mention how fans are wearing masks all they want, I've seen so many crowd shots on TV where people are literally just wearing their mask on their neck or chin.

MLB is experimenting with some new rules in the minors. Most people seem to hate it but I love that they’re trying to restrict shifting

I like reducing the amount of times a pitcher can do a pickoff. I'd also modify the rule where you can only have 1 mound visit per pitcher, per inning.

They need to bring back the short lived rule where batters must stay in the batter's box.

Although the rules above, I feel like pitch clocks will help more than anything. Let pitchers throw pickoffs however many times they want, but the pitch clock only resets halfway, once per pitch. And if a pitcher wants to quick pitch, its all fine. Once the clock begins running, its fair game, even if the batter isn't in the box.

Not sure if changing base sizes will really impact much on the stolen bases part or injury front.

At the very least for changing shifts, make it so teams cant shift during at bats. We know once it gets down to 2 strikes, teams often "reset" and go back to a more normal shift, but get rid of them doing that at least.

The bigger base would theoretically give the runner more room to avoid a tag but still be able to reach/touch/hold the base, and slightly shorten the distance between the bases by a few inches.

Apparently the bases will be made differently, too. Anti-slip surface and lower to the ground

The change to not allow pitchers to lift their leg then pick is a major one.

I like that they're looking at enforcing shift changes, but that wasn't what I had in mind with it. Those who know my stance on it (no pun intended), I think they should still allow for freedom, just not complete and total imbalance. The nature of some of the positions should still be intact, and not completely make a mockery out of the sport or its players.

Speaking of the bases, I learned this the last time I was redoing our high school softball field, and I only assume it's also true for baseball: did you know that the baseball diamond is not an exact diamond around the three bags? As it turns out, the 2B peg draws a perpendicular line to both the 1B and 3B outer corners. It looks like this:

I forget the justification behind this. Maybe it had to do with home plate being larger in and of itself, I can't remember.

I never minded the concept of a pickoff limit if I knew how it could be enforced properly (I don't love it though), but it seems to be a bit of a dice roll. I mean I get what they're doing with it, but I don't know man. It seems like a tough one to get right. At least they're doing it at a lower level.

Anyone hear that story about a guy who says he lived in a secret apartment in Veterans Stadium for 2 years?

Obviously with security cameras and all that nowadays that would never happen, but I do believe something like that happened, and wouldn't be surprised if similar things happened in other venues.

If you know someone who worked at a venue in a day before security cameras, it probably would be fairly easy to sneak into a venue.
