Absolutely terrible news about Tim Wakefield and his wife, both so young.

I'm not surprised it's the Giants that did that. Kapler is all-in on analytics being > everything. Screw no-hitters and perfect games, gotta take that pitcher out, because...ya know, reasons.

BALTIMORE -- The Orioles are staying in Baltimore for the long term. During Thursday night’s home game vs. the Red Sox, the Orioles announced that the team, the State of Maryland, Governor Wes Moore and the Maryland Stadium Authority have agreed to a deal -- later identified by the Governor's

Good to know they're staying. Now all those rumblings about them moving to Tennessee can go away. Now fix that MASN mess.

I don't think many believed they would actually move. Everyone knew it was all just talk to try getting a deal done.

Whenever I think of a knuckleball pitcher, I think of Tim Wakefield.

RIP to both Brooks Robinson and Tim Wakefield.

I guess most people remember Wakefield with the Red Sox, but I still associate him the most with giving the Braves fits in the 1992 NLCS.

Such a fun pitcher to watch. He was the starter in the only Sox game I've seen at Fenway. RIP

Fascinating a pitch with zero rotation could do such work against a hitter.

The news came with controversy too.

Curt Schilling was the first to publicly reveal that Wakefield AND his wife were suffering from different forms of cancer. People were ripping him for sharing private info like that.

Then a few days later we find out Wakefield died.

In hindsight it "softened the blow" a bit, but still was unnecessary when it was news nobody wanted to publicly share at the time.

It was weird to hear of his death right after that. Obviously he wasn't doing well leading up to it, but you feel like when you first hear the news that maybe that's just the beginning of its development. I had no idea he was pretty much meeting his end. So I'm not sure I was ready for that. It may have made it harder for me.

As a silly connection, it's like when I don't know a certain movie is in production, then they show a trailer revealing that it's coming out in like three weeks and I go: "Where did that come from? Didn't they just start making it??"

Bottom line, I shouldn't attribute my knowledge acquisition with the timing of real life events. Things happen when they do whether I know about them or not.

This news seriously sucks though, and a double whammy at that given his wife. I suppose we should shame Schilling for this if he didn't want others to know about it.

                            Schilling is a POS.

Now, he can live with knowing that Tim passed away undoubtedly upset that Curt put his private business out there. Knowing Schilling, he probably doesn't care and still thinks he did the right thing.

Sorry, Curt. Your excuse for doing that fell flat and completely failed. There were no miracles. Your friend is gone, and you're an ***.

                                Possibly.

Either way, his wife likely knows, and even if she doesn't, he certainly has family that knows. Just a deplorable thing to do.
