I thought Questec was just stuff that tracked the pitches accurately, and the umps were making whatever calls you're talking about...correct me if i'm wrong, I didn't think Questec had any impact on games, just on rating and teaching umpires...

You got it right. But even umpires themselves admitted to calling a much different game when Questec was in play. Just ask Tom Glavine. His rational for his poor performance at home last year was that Shea was one of the stadiums that had Questec installed.

How many stadiums still don't have it installed?

That's the problem right there. It needs to be in every park, or no parks.

Well in tennis they have a machine that tracks if a ball is in or out of the fault line so it makes the umpire's job a lot easier when it comes to close calls.

So the kind of technology that would be able to call games is there in a very rudimentary way. The techonology can be used to do this but we all know the Umps would raise a stink over it.

the MLB isn't interpreting the data and passing it to Umps right, now the umps are scared of Questec and allowing it to dramatically change their calls

I agree. To be honest, it really screws up some games. Whats a strike in the 3rd inning magically isn't a strike in the 7th inning of some games. I've never heard of them "firing" an ump, or even sending them down to AAA. Maybe it happens, but it just doesn't get any press. It seems like they almost have a "Tenure" type system where its impossible to get fired. It might be in their contract, I know their unionized.

I think they could do it on the bases with realtively accurate success, but what about behind the plate? Sure they could get corners right, but how would the adjust each individual hitter with regard to height? Maybe you could have an "operator" adjust the machine before each at bat, but I'm not sure how timely, or effective that would be.

the technical issues could probably be fixed if they wanted, but I highly doubt the MLB would want games umped by a machine...I could see a really big revolt against it by baseball purists
