I've wanted Benson on the Braves for the longest time, but they don't have a spot for him right now. I think in the right situation, he could flourish. He's got some of the best stuff in the league.

We could definitely use another starter. Our bullpen needs help, and putting Jaret back in the pen would definitely help. You slide Benson in after Hampton in front of Horatio and Thomson and you really solidify your starters. The question is what would we give up for him. Hopefully, not much. They can't touch Marte or Francouer. Other than that, position wise I wouldn't have a problem giving them anyone in the minors. Pitching wise, we pretty much need to keep what we got after dealing off Bong, Nelson, Pratt, Belisle, Wainright in the last 8 months. Making a move and further depleting our pitching prospects would def not be a bright thing for Schuerholtz to do at this point. If we could get him for like Jurries/Kelly Johnson/etc then I think we should jump on it.

Yes and no. His fastball has an annoying habit of not moving at all, and when that happens, he gets rocked. He also doesn't have a great offspeed pitch, so he doesn't keep batters off balance as much as would be prefered.

Benson is gone from the Bucs for several reasons, including the fact that his contract is up, and there's no way the Pirates are going to pay him. I just hope we can get a young, quality third baseman for him.
