it's true, Bonds will not get many HRs this year due to noone being able to advance Bonds.

it just makes logical sense to intentionally walk Bonds, if the base is open, or other situations...why let him pop one out of the park if you can face a worse batter after him and maybe get the DP...

What's strange is that we don't say the same for Helton, Pujols, or Sosa.

And THAT'S why he deserves MVP over these guys. I heard everyone during last year after the season, debating as to whether Bonds or Pujols should get MVP. Well, then you ask yourself why Pujols gets so many RBI's, and you get your answer as to because he gets pitched to with RISP. His average is up because he gets good pitches, rather than multiple breaking balls on the outside corner, etc. Pujols has more extra base hits because he has more AB's, etc.

i'm not sure it would matter who was hitting behind bonds, he's still going to be walked.

still i wish in blowouts they would pitch to him so he could bat .400 or get more hr. wouldn't that be fun if he becomes a dh for the yanks to end his career with the yanks just like mays did.

I remember back on May 28th of '98 (I went to that game, have the ticket in hand right now), the Diamondbacks were up 8-6 in the bottom of the ninth and two outs. So, Bonds pinch hits. Guess what Showalter does?

So, in comes one run, and Brent Mayne comes up... only to line out and end the game.

That was probably the time that I was the maddest of all times that he's been intentionally walked.

What confuses me is that they actually pitch to him in the playoffs. Anyone recall his 7 home runs in the 2002 playoffs?
