Obvious one that has not been mentioned:

Francisco Rodriguez, born Jan 7 1982.

Re: Best Young Players in the Game

In my mind, a "Young player" is a guy 25 or under, guys who are real good who havn't even started to reach their peak yet. Most of these guys have been mentioned, while some are just being mentioned because they are sort of young, and have good potential. The thread is titled "best young players in the game" not "Going to be pretty good in a couple years. I'll see if I can find some guys no one has mentioned yet, though.

Albert Pujols shouldn't be on this list, because there is no way he is only 24, probably around 26-27. He just doesn't look it. When he was playing in High School, opposing coaches just knew he wasn't really 17 or 18. Theres been a lot of speculation on this too, so I'm not just pulling this out of my butt.

I don't believe Barry Zito is all that great anymore. He has been declining the last year and a half. He was inconsistant last year, and so far this year hasn't started off so great for him. He's a good pitcher, but no longer one of the games best.

No one has mentioned Carlos Zambrano who is just 22, had a 3.11 ERA last year, and doing very well so far this year, with only one real bad start, and 5 great ones.

Josh Beckett? Hasn't been great so far this year, but he was the World Series hero, and has been doing better then his ERA shows.

Joe Mauer, who got off to a great start, then got injured. He won't have the power numbers.. yet, but he is a great defensive player, knows the strike zone, and knows how to hit, making the best young catcher in the game. He is only 21 too.

Rafael Soriano. 24 years old, has been fighting injuries, but was very, very good last year at the young age of 23.

Vernon Wells, only 25, struggled so far this year, but theres no doubt in my mind he will pick it up, considering his outstanding last two seasons (More so last year, as in 2002 he only drew 27 walks) for a CF.

If these guys have been mentioned already, then my bad, in advance.
