    No Burroughs or Peavy?

I'm not sure about whether or not Burroughs can keep his numbers up for a whole season, but does have a tremendous upside.
Peavy will be the ace of the Padres staff soon, ERA at 1.80, has not allowed a Home Run this season, 31 strike outs in 35 innings, he is developing into a very good pitcher.

            How about C.C. Sabathia?

The guy is only 23 and is the ace of the Indians. He'll win 50 games before turning 24, hopefully (his B-Day is July 21).

Re: Best Young Players in the Game

I just put my in just for the heck of it:

Burroughs (23) was hyped up his rookie year and had a disappointing season with a shoulder injury that took him out for a month or so before being sent to AAA. However, last year his offense was solid and his defense was outstanding (better than what Nevin had to offer). If he can keep up at or around .300, then that'll be good, he's not being demanded to hit for power at this point of his career, although his position would demand that he has to produce in that category.

Peavy (22), is arguably the best pitcher in the Pad's staff to come. Although he was plagued by the long ball last year, most of them were solo shots. He led the team in wins that year and in K's. His mentality and focus on the mound help him, he doesn't get rattled after giving up a solo, two, or three run shot. He's pitched well this year to be 4-0, but the run support was never there.

Brandon Webb (24) is becoming one of the top young pitchers in the game. Although filling in for the shoes of recently departed Schilling, Webb has done well in his time in the Big League. He looks to be the ace in the future for the Diamondbacks.

C.C. Sabathia (23) , the up-and-coming ace for the Cleveland Indians, has had his K numbers gone down since his rookie season in 2001, consequently, his walks and ERA have gone down as well. He has never had a losing season in his career. As expected, he has had a good start to this year, going 1-0 in 4 starts while having an ERA of 1.61.

A few years back, Tony Gwynn (42) said this guy would turn into a great hitter, but an awful 2003 plagued Adam Dunn (24). He hit .214 that year with 27 home runs, injury forced him to only play 116 game that season. He's off to a good start, but he has yet to finish a season with an average above .250 since his rookie season.

Mark Teixeira (24) had a solid rookie year in 2003, hitting .259 with 26 homers. Although his is off to a slow start, the Rangers expect big things out of this youngster.

After having two so-so years in 01 and 02, Michael Young (27) had an outstanding year in 2003. He had career highs in home runs (14), rbi's (72), hits (204), runs (106), batting average (.306), obp (.339), and slugging percentage (.446). This year he looks to top those again and is off to a good start, hitting .352 with 3 homers, 17 driven in, 9 walks, 24 runs scored, and 3 stolen bases.

Francsico Cordero (28), another Ranger, is expected to be their full-time closer. As a reliever in the past 2 years, Cordero has excelled in that role. However, last season his closed 15 saves out of 25 chances, not good. This year he's had more success at that role, going 10 for 10 in save opportunities.

Khalil Greene (24) has zipped his way into the majors since being drafted in 2002 as a first rounder out of Clemson. He's shown with the bat that he can hit, but what awes those who watch him is his work ethic and his defense. The kid will practice almost every single play imaginable, even ones that he'll only need to do once or twice a year. He isn't expected to do much on offense this year, although he's capable of being a .290/15/70 type player. The Padres expect him, along with Burroughs, to be the mainstay in the left side of the infield for years to come.

After spending a couple of season up and down the big league level and minor leagues with the New York Mets, Scutaro (28) has joined the A's to be their second basemen/part-time shortstop. In what looks to be his first full season, the rookie is batting .310 with 26 hits and 8 rbi's.
