I'm not a big name of selling stadium naming rights, but I think if it is done right it's ok. If an area business provides the money and buys the name it makes a hell of a lot more sense than just some random company. Miller Park, Busch Stadium, Wrigley Field, Fenway Park are all examples of this.

Yeah, I'll still call it the Ballpark, in fact I'm going to the Ballpark next week. This naming stuff is awful, the fans should try to stop it before we have the "Coca-Cola Astros" etc.Texas Tech, Red Sox, FC Dallas and Reading supporterComment

It should just be ads, c'mon, be more creative with naming and stop letting companies put their name on ballparks, Petco Park? SBC Park? Minute Maid? Jeez...

i agree that changing names is stupid, but SBC Park is only SBC because Pac Bell phone company changed their name to SBC. its still the same company thoughComment

Re: The Ballpark in Arlington is no longer......
Legend goes that the park was called "Fenway Park" because owner John Taylor said "It's in the Fenway section of Boston isn't? Let's call it Fenway Park."
HOWEVER, it is pretty widely assumed that the name was actually for an insurance company (or something along those lines, I remember reading something about it a while ago, but since have forgotten the specifics). It just so happened that they coincided and really the story could go either way.Comment
