I don't expect seeing Khalil Greene there this year, maybe in the future, but he's still got a ways to go before he makes a bid for an all-star appearance.Comment

Re: NL SS All Stars
I'm gonna have to go with Adam Everret. I think he's a pretty good SS from what i've seen. I also like the fact that he doesn't try to do too much. He's great at playing to the situation and he's one reason why sabrmetrics isn't always right as he's putting up good numbers while still playing small ball by bunting and sacrificing runners in.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Didn't those 4 HR's come against the Reds!Watching him in those series against the Reds made me realize how un-appreciated he really is. If Larkin doesn't go, I would like Wilson or Everett to get it as I think they are the Cream right now.
I hope Larkin goes, as this is supposed to be his last year. He's announced he will most likely retire at the end of the season.

Quite possibly.
The thing is, Jack has always been a very good defensive shortstop like Kredit said. I'd rate him above average actually. However, he's never done good with the bat until this year. He was your typical slick fielding, no hit SS. For whatever reason, he's found it this year and is really putting up some good numbers. Maybe he finally matured and is feeling comfortable at the plate?
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
He's a career .300+ hitter in the minors, so maybe he's figured it out.
Plus, Mac is FINALLY keeping him at #2. Last year he did well hitting second, but McClendon went out of his way to keep him out of the spot for bogus reasons.“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. Re: NL SS All Stars
As Letsgopitt pointed out, Wilson is a career .300+ hitter in the minors, everyone in the Cardinals organization knew Wilson would hit, that's one of the reasons the Pirates went for him, the question was always when would he hit.
It's really too bad the Pirates pitching is as bad as it is, offensively this team is coming around, Mackowiak is killing the ball, Daryl Ward has finally found his stroke plus the Wilson's, Jack and Craig are having career years, i think we have to look no further than Lloyd McClendon as the main reason this team has underacheived the way they have, you have to wonder how much longer the Pirates will stand behind him as they face the threat of yet another losing season.Comment

I doubt you've seen much of Jack Wilson, but he's the same type of player. Very scrappy, bunts runners into scoring position when he has to and plays the game the way it's supposed to be played. When I say that, I mean in the sense that this guy runs out every ground ball as hard as he can and looks to take an extra base hit whenever an outfielder is slacking.
He's really a joy to watch if you like old school baseball and get tired of watching prima donna type players. I just hope he keeps it up because the Pirates need some players like this.Comment
