Re: 6/30 - 7/6 Game Discussion Thread
I'm not sure if Sandberg is expecting Jake Diekman to suddenly switch hands and throw righty against RH batters, because he acts like that's what he's gonna do.
Ok, Ryne and Co., the experiment is over. Diekman cannot throw against righties. Please make a note of this for next season.Comment

But the thing is.....stuff like this usually happens in Toronto(great start to seasons and then fail to make playoffs in the end). As proven by MANY Jays teams over past 2 decades, and many Leafs teams the past several years.Comment

Also, in no way shape or form should Diekman ever be allowed to close once Papelbon is out of here. That job needs to go to Ken Giles.Comment

Re: 6/30 - 7/6 Game Discussion Thread
Baseball has to do something about the Jays/A's situation last night…Encarnacion would have been out at the plate IF the catcher knew the runner at 1st was out.
What they should have done is rule it a double play…IMO this is the equivalent of in the NFL a runner being whistled down on a fumble that only one guy reacts to and picks up, and then on a subsequent challenge the Refs say they shouldn't have blown the whistle and award the defense the ball.Last edited by Sportsforever; 07-04-2014, 12:49 PM."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. The A's did play the the game under protest and would have been real interesting had they not won the game.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: 6/30 - 7/6 Game Discussion Thread
I'm enjoying it…but I don't expect it to last. Honestly, the big key has been our bullpen. Our offense isn't scoring any more runs than before (actually fewer in this stretch), our starting pitching has been solid, but is has been all year. It's our pen returning to it's normal lights out self…in that 6 week stretch where we played below .500 the pen had an ERA of nearly 6. Glad to see it settling back down with Walden returning and the emergence of Chase Simmons."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do.
