Ah man, two crushing losses for the Pirates as STL hits another walk off HR. I'm not sure why you don't bring Melancon in and live to fight in extra innings.

I can't argue that Ferari (Sp?) might not have been the best in that scenario but I'm still not sold much on Melancon either and more to your point I don't think it was a concession on going to extra innings since Ferari is one inning guy as well.

Hurdle chose him over Melancon, probably in the hope he would be needed in the bottom of an inning at some point, but he will be second guessed for that one again tomorrow.

Whoa! Dickey got through 7 innings without crapping the bed and the Jays are winning.

Hopefully they'll close the door on this one.

Oh I'm with you on Melancon being shaky. He has given up leads and blown saves this year, but I'd still feel better about having him out there instead of Ferrei. The guy has been lit up lately and that was a high leverage situation. I'd love to see Watson moved to closer and Melancon return to his setup role.

This Angels/Blue Jays has got to be one the sloppiest games I've seen so far this season, nobody can catch the ball today on either side thru the first few innings.

Dillon Gee picking up exactly where he was before getting hurt, pitching well and getting no run support.

Epic stare down between Bobby Abreu and the 3rd base umpire.

Since the 20-7 start the Brewers are 2 games better than the Cubs. I think that gives us a pretty good measure of the quality of this team.

Roberto Hernandez is pitching out of his mind tonight. A little over 80 pitches thrown through 8 innings. 3 hits and 1 run allowed. Wonder if Ryne Sandberg will let him go for the complete game.

Nope. Papelbon closes it out for his third consecutive 1-2-3 inning save. I totally did not see the Phillies taking the first 3 games of this series at all. Going for the 4 game sweep of the Brewers tomorrow afternoon.

Braves continue to be streaky as hell. 9 straight wins followed by 4 straight losses. Had their hands full with those Mets.

It's too bad that Stroman had such a tough game this afternoon. Can't blame him for the loss though as Pujols went yard off of one of our best relievers.

Hey now, the Cubs were playing good baseball before the trade.

What was a 3rd base ump doing loitering around the retirement home?
