5th straight win for the Phillies. All against first place teams. They are rolling right now. Great starting pitching, clutch hitting, and the bullpen has been solid. Ken Giles has been a treat to watch. Throws 100 MPH and has one of the nastiest sliders I have ever seen. Closer of the future for the Phillies for sure. J-Roll with 2 home runs tonight and Grady Sizemore had a hit and run scored.

If they can manage to sweep the Nationals this weekend they will only be 6 games out which is hard to believe considering they were 12 games back only a week ago or so. Baseball is a funny game. Cole Hamels vs. Stephen Strasburg tomorrow night. I'll be at that game.

Pirates blew it again(a 5-1 lead). Watson is the best in the bullpen, but he didn't look like himself tonight. Pedro's two run error didn't help things either. I know he hit a 3 run shot tonight, but Pedro's errors are costing the team games. I still have no idea what Hurdle is doing with Melancon, he hasn't pitched since the 5th.

The Cards picked up George Koutaris (sp) off the waiver wire. I'm sure he'll be catching his fair share of games.

I'm sure they'll split. Tony Cruz can hold his own defensively. Koutaris is about as replacement level as you can get. Cruz really has never had a chance and knows our pitchers better than Koutaris will.

Man, Felix is having an awesome year so far. Needed him to stop the bleeding after a disappointing couple of series, and he did it again. Gave up both runs in the first, then came back and dominated the rest of the game. Pretty fun being at games in July that actually kinda matter still.
