I really don't know what to think about today's trades but how the A's and Tigers have basically assembled one of the best pitching rotation in a long time

Any value Cliff Lee had left is now gone. Just left his start against the Nationals pointing to his elbow saying "I'm done."

Hence the reason no one wanted him.

He's floated around in the minors since his last MLB game.

If this becomes the ALCS, it will be awesome. Two monster rotations, two teams that have a history the past few years, with neither team having won a world series since the 80s.

I also like Parra to the Brewers. I think the Diamondbacks should have gotten more for Prado and Parra.

My biggest worry with the Cespedes trade, is that the A's have a win percentage (since 2012) of about .635 when he is in the line up and a win percentage of .385 when he is not. That is a huge difference.

I hate midseason rentals. Looks like Beane thinks they can win it all this year. Problem is, the Tigers will be standing in their way again.

Nationals losing 7-3 and I bet F.P. is still saying the Nationals are doing everything right tonight.

That is a big difference but he is just one guy. They will still win and they will still lose. Him not being their won't cost them too much, especially with the pitching staff they have put together.

Correlation != causation. It's a team sport. You're replacing him with a better player. You're fine.

No, Beane has made it clear they HAVE to win it all this year.

One way or the other, I'm expecting them to strip the team this offseason so they can rebuild quicker. One down year instead of multiple years.

His actions this season has pretty much indicated those are the plans.

And the stat about the winning percentage with YC in the lineup is a real one but he values a winning post season rotation over anything else and there has been whispers about YC planning to sign with Boston after next season anyway.

I doubt he was going to be with the A's after next season anyway.

When Michael Saunders comes off the DL the Mariners are expected to DFA either Corey Hart or Endy Chavez. It's rumored that Hart will be the odd man out

Yeah especially this year, I think the bad win percentage was mostly from 2012 and 2013 when most of the A's were real young and new. So I hope the trend changes.
