I think this is the first time in a long time where you could say the Rays got ripped off. I wonder what other names were being floated around for Price?

Re: 2014 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
If this is it given up by Detroit, I'm excited for the rotation we can throw out there. It's clearly an arms race in the AL between Oakland and Detroit. Oakland gets Shark and Hammel to try and match up with Detroit, then get Lester to pass them. Detroit proceeds to go get Price to try and pass Oakland again.
If these two teams play in the playoffs, it's gonna be a hell of a series. I'd tend to think Oakland would win due to a stronger (not a strong enough representation of how much better Oakland's is than Detroit's) bullpen, but Detroit has proven they have 3-4 guys who just dominate the whole game in a playoff setting...and added another today.....seems like we're done trading for the day with no bat upgrade.....that worries me

Re: 2014 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
What they wanted vs what teams wanted to give up was vastly different. Not many teams wanted to give up the farm + pay all the arbitration money for him next season. I'm shocked they didn't get more as well, but it makes sense.
Also, can't believe the Marlins gave up Moran. They gave up a comp pick too.. jeezComment

Rays also got SS Willy Adames from the Tigers. Apparently the Rays REALLY like this kid and think his ceiling is SKYHIGH. Local radio is all over it.
So for the Rays it is Franklin, Smyly and AdamesComment
