So much for pushing him back a day.

Here's tonight's update one the Angels Lightwave:

@susanslusser For those asking about the flashing lights here, opinions mixed: Several A's told me they don't mind, Jonny Gomes said "It's awesome."

@susanslusser Other A's said it's stupid, and the one Angels player I asked about it said it's a problem on defense for Angels players, they get blinded.

Lol. Why keep promoting the fans to do it then?

      Awesome Cubs Fun Fact:

With Soler's 2 HR game tonight, The Chicago Cubs now have 2 of the 3 players to hit 3 HRs in their first 3 MLB games since 1900. Baez did it earlier this month.

Josh Harrison is fun to watch play. Three to four great defensive plays tonight, and the game tying triple. J-Hay all Day.

Also, they're the first team in 100 years to have two players age 22 or younger hit a home run in their very first Major League at-bat.

So the Dodgers used this extreme infield shift last night. I've seen a 5 man infield before but this is just a ridiculous shift.

That shift worked to. Seth Smith was the batter.

You really have to bunt it to 3B when this happens.

You know what's coming, right? Shift rules. And they should. This is like stacking one side of the line in football. This isn't baseball as it should be.

Bases loaded, force out at home... very unlikely that would work (it was a 5 man infield, so the 3B was on the left side and playing on the cut). As a hitter, you're doing everything you can to lift the ball to the OF.

I couldn't disagree more. I love it. It's as much a psychological tactic, as it is a physical one. The defense and their manager are daring the hitter to do something they're not accustomed to.

I was unaware that it was a 5-man infield. The 5th is not pictured. But, assuming there's someone playing third, then yeah not a bunt situation.

I wouldn't say underrated, he is recognized throughout the league as one of the best lefties--if not one of the best starters--in the game today. You just don't here about him as much as Kershaw and Felix b/c the Sox are well out of the playoff race

Cubs take game 1 over St. Louis 5-1. Felix Doubront gets the W in his Cubs debut, Castro goes deep.. Cubs win without Rizzo or Soler in the lineup.

It's getting really difficult to temper my expectations for next season. Very exciting times for Cubs fans.

I can feel the bandwagon starting to swell (not that you weren't already on the wagon, lol). I haven't seen this much talent come through the farm for the Cubs all at once in my lifetime. Heck, it's debatable if I've seen as much over my lifetime cumulatively.
