The Boss personally signed Kenny Lofton in the offseason, not GM Brian Cashman. I bet George would cream his pants if we got Beltran so he wouldn't be too upset parting with Lofton. It goes 3 ways with the Yanks, Royals and A's.
A's Get-
Kenny Lofton- Get some speed in the OF and a decent bat
Robinson Canoe- Top Yankee prospect who can play 2B or 3B
Royals get-
Dioner Navarro (from Yanks)- Top prospect cacther who could evolve into a Piazza one day.
Mark Teahen (from A's)- Prospect 3B from Oakland who was hitting .335 in AA this year and his starting to heat up in AAA.
Yankees Get-
Beltran
Then Bernie can DH

That's a terrible trade for Oakland. Replace Lofton with Paul Qunatrill and that'd be something worth considering.
