Clement's a very good pitcher. Don't let your allegiances cloud your vision.

Jistic, you're one of the few Cub fans that I respect, take a peek at the career record of one Freddy Garcia. Heck take a look at most of the stats. And I don't let my allegiances cloud my judgement. I'm just saying it how I see it.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Freddy has been on a few highly rated teams in Seattle, much better than the teams Clement played for in SD/FLA/CHC. He got more run support, and better defense. Keep in mind that the last 2 seasons Clement has been much better these last two seasons. Especially this season where (barring his record) has All-Star numbers.

Just because you dislike the Cubs doesn't mean Matt Clement is a heckova pitcher.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Clement is a GREAT pitcher. Just look at his numbers for the past three seasons:
    OPP BA, .215, .227, .220
    WHIP, 1.20, 1.23, 1.15
    ERA, 3.60, 4.11, 2.93
Averages almost a strikeout per inning. Five complete games, three for shut outs, and he hasn't had great defense.

If I were Boston, I make this deal happen.

As for the other deal, I thought Delgado was going to LA?

I understand. But honestly that's why I said the past three years. Really their numbers are VERY similiar. Garcia's got 'em in ERA but that's about it.

Clement is a very good pitcher. He get's overshadowed by the big 3...well hell now 4 on the CUbs. As a Cubs fan honestly I wouldn't do this trade. I mean we REALLY need help at short but this deal doesn't appeal to me. Now hey if somebody wants to give us Jeter, that's another story

As much as I agree that Nomar is not the same player that he used to be, I wouldn't necessarily call this a horrible year for him just yet. Sure, he's batting .235. Keep in mind, though, he's only been playing for a few weeks, and once he gets into the full swing of things, I'm sure that average will climb and he will contribute more to that Sox offense.

                  In the last 3 years:
                  Freddy Garcia = W-L:46-30, 3.95 ERA
                  Matt Clement = W-L:35-33, 4.20 ERA

Wins are not even close. So Freddy has him more than just ERA.

Just watching baseball tonight and that old guy on the show said there was a rumor of a trade between the cubs and the bosox with Nomar going to the Cubs and Clement going to the Bosox. If this trade goes down I think it will benefit both teams because Alex S. Gonzoles, the cubs starting shortstop, has been out with a broken wrist. Also the Bosox would have a great #3-4 guy while they still have Schilling and Pedro. Cubs Piching staff would remain solid b/c Glendon Rusch, backup for Wood, is solid at 4-1, 4.33 ERA. This probably wont go down but if it does it would be great for both teams.

I think this would be greatly in favor of the Red Sox. Nomar is a good bat to have in the lineup, but that's about it. Think of how brutal the left side of the infield would be in the field with Ramirez and Nomar? Ugh! Not to mention that the last thing the Cubs need RIGHT NOW is to part with another starting pitcher.
