Just watching baseball tonight and that old guy on the show said there was a rumor of a trade between the cubs and the bosox with Nomar going to the Cubs and Clement going to the Bosox. If this trade goes down I think it will benefit both teams because Alex S. Gonzoles, the cubs starting shortstop, has been out with a broken wrist. Also the Bosox would have a great #3-4 guy while they still have Schilling and Pedro. Cubs Piching staff would remain solid b/c Glendon Rusch, backup for Wood, is solid at 4-1, 4.33 ERA. This probably wont go down but if it does it would be great for both teams.

I think this would be greatly in favor of the Red Sox. Nomar is a good bat to have in the lineup, but that's about it. Think of how brutal the left side of the infield would be in the field with Ramirez and Nomar? Ugh! Not to mention that the last thing the Cubs need RIGHT NOW is to part with another starting pitcher.

No dice: Cubs officials laughed off an East Coast rumor that they were going to trade pitcher Matt Clement to Boston for shortstop Nomar Garciaparra.

The Cubs need bullpen help, and one hot name is Detroit's Ugueth Urbina, in whom the Cubs have had interest in the past. The Tigers figure to field several offers for Urbina. The Cubs may be able to part with farm surplus to get him.

            In the last 3 years:
            Freddy Garcia = W-L:46-30, 3.95 ERA
            Matt Clement = W-L:35-33, 4.20 ERA

Wins are not even close. So Freddy has him more than just ERA.

UGH, I can't believe you're making me do this...

            ERA Garcia
WIns Garcia - Clement hasn't been on a good team until last year. Kerry Wood hasn't even won many games, is he good?

            K's - Clement
            Avg against - Clement
            W's allowed - Clement

All of these stats are VERY close between the two. And that was my point. Their production is almost identical and if Garcia is supposed to be this major pick up for you guys then Clement must be pretty good. And if he wore black you'd think so too. I'm not making this into a North side/South side thing. SOxboy you're always cool with me. Just stating the facts. I guess you'd have to ask the NON Chicago baseball fans.

I do NOT want this trade BTW.

Glad to hear we're still cool Jistic. And for a quick poll I'd like to see who people would rather have. Matt Clement or Freddy Garcia. Only NON Chicago people please. I'd make it a poll poll, but then Cub/Sox people would vote for their guy.

Clement.... this coming from a Cleveland fan.... Garcia just always seems to be decent but Clement seems to come through with the big game right when the Cubs need it more.

This would be one of the worst trades ever for Boston, if they did this. Production-wise, there's nothing wrong with it, but they'd be villified by fans.
