Yet George Steinbrenner probably doesn't have to worry about losing Johnson to the Red Sox. Johnson made clear yesterday that reports of his distaste for Boston's Curt Schilling are accurate, a bad sign for the Red Sox. When a reporter mentioned that Schilling claimed to put in 20 phone calls to Johnson, in an effort to convince him to waive his no-trade clause to pitch for the Red Sox, Johnson said, "There's a reason I have changed my number."

Re: Big Unit to Boston????
The Diamondbacks have had talks with the Mets, but they haven't gotten far because the Mets feel it would be unlikely that Johnson would waive his no-trade clause for the Mets. The Mets would be willing to take on his whole salary if a deal did happen.Comment

Re: Big Unit to Boston????
It looks more and more like Johnson doesn't want to go anywhere but New York or just stay put in Arizona. Honestly, I don't think he is to the point where he wants out of Arizona badly but we'll see. Certainly the Yankees want him, because I don't think anybody is sold on their rotation in the postseason, but its unclear what they will have to do to get him.
As for him going to Boston, thats just wishful thinking by the Boston media. No way the Red Sox land Johnson because its just too good to be true for Sox fans. Teams don't get rotations consisting of pitchers the calibre of Johnson, Schilling, and Martinez; it just doesn't happen.Comment
