I've got to go with you on this one. I am just so unsure if Bonds really does roids or something, he just seems MUCH bigger than before. On the other hand, Ruth was a dominant pitcher and switched to fielding and he was dominant on the otherside as well. How old was ruth when he retired? I didn't think he was that old.

I think a more correct assumption would be to say that Bonds is the best player of our time (last 50 years or so), and Ruth was the best player before that. In terms of all time, as of now, i'll go with Ruth. But if Bonds really does continue to play, break the HR record, put up stats like he does now, and still be as feared of a hitter that he is now, then I think we'll be able to make a good argument for him being the best player of all time.

I wish I still had MLB Extra Innings (darn money problems)

I'd say that Bonds is the best overall player of all time. Babe Ruth may have hit a lot of HRs and out homer the entire league in some years but he wasn't that big of a defensive player. Bonds to his credit was one of the best outfielders in the game and was also a prolific base stealer. The only guy in Bonds' category when talking about overall play would be his Godfather Willie Mays.

Bonds is NOW up for the first at bat at Milwaukee... ESPN is not even airing it right now! However... there's a runner at second.

I'll just edit my post for what he does for those that can't watch right now.

                  **EDITED**

Bonds... after 10 or so pitches...

                  .......................

                  ...........

Pops up, and flies out to the shortstop in center field.

Time to wait for next at bat.

I cannot believe that ESPN didn't air that!

Okay, Bonds is coming up again, and thank God Kuiper is coming over from the radio side here, because he's the one that needs to make the call. No offense to Miller, of course, it's just that Miller had his shot to do it at 500.

                              Meh, Bonds walked.

Oh well, at least they pitched to him. I mean, they were throwing breaking balls on fastball counts, but it wasn't anywhere near intentional.
