    Re: 2015 Spring Training Thread

Yeah I don't see how the loss of Kelly is going to change things. It's not like they're losing Clay Bucholtz for a long stretch. If he ever goes down then I expect the rumors to run rampant.

It's interesting what Boston is doing having Bucholtz and a bunch of middle rotation guys. They're clearly going for the "let's kill them with offense" approach.

Red Sox have no starting pitching depth. Joe Kelly is no less important than Clay Bucholtz (headcase). Any injury will spark more trade talk.

Now don't confuse that with me wanting Cole Hameles. I'm of the belief that waiting until the trade deadline is the approach to take. And frankly want nothing to do with Cole Hamels period.

The Red Sox have no SP depth?

Barnes, Wright, Owens, Rodriguez, Paulino, Escobar, Workman...

They may not be great pitchers (in some cases, yet), but the Red Sox have nothing, if not depth. The Red Sox issue isn't their depth. The Red Sox issue is the lack of a front line pitcher, but they seem to be set on having that weakness.

I'm also in the camp of "Joe Kelly isn't very good" so it kind of helps me see the depth as being favorable.

In any case, the injury doesn't seem too serious, so the point is moot anyways.

Cliff Lee officially moved to the 60-day DL. His career is likely over.

Yo Phils.... this isn't a university lab..... let's officially end the Phillipe Aumont experiment..... sort of how the Flyers needs to officially end the RJ Umberger experiment.

Aumont is one of the worst relief pitchers I have ever seen in my life.

If you consider a bunch of unproven MLB arms as depth...

But he's really tall. Maybe they keep him around to change light bulbs.

The light bulb would find a way to beat him.

Kemp destroyed a Lester pitch yesterday for a looong HR. I know its just spring but Kemp, Upton, Myers and MIddlebrooks have all looked very solid so far this spring. Bring on the Regular Season!

Don't worry Middlebrooks will regress back to crap soon enough.

Don't know if this is the right place but I'm curious about the Padres this year. Any Padres fan welcome to give their opinion cause I've watched some spring games but haven't caught any Padre games. You got Justin Upton who has good pop when he gets ahold of one, you got Wil Myers who's young & still up & coming, you have Kemp obviously but then there's Venable. I'm guessing Venable is the odd man out?

Carlos Quentin and Cameron Maybin are most likely the odd men out, Venable will be the 4th Outfielder.

No, Venable will make the ball club, He's a LHB that can play all 3 OF spots. Quentin and most likely Maybin will be gone.

Oh I knew he would make the club but he'd be the odd man out playing from the bench.
