Re: 4/20 - 5/3 Game Discussion Thread
Regarding the Astros; if they keep playing this well into mid-May then I think a good comparison for them would be the 2003 Royals. A team with some talent who played well above their heads for most of the season and faded down the stretch. It would be a great story if these young Astros could be a major player this season but I don't know if they can sustain it all year.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Tomorrow's game between the O's and White Sox tomorrow. Will be held in front of a record crowd of 0 people!!! The game is closed to the public. First time I know that this has ever happened. And yes the game is going to be broadcasted.Last edited by redsox4evur; 04-28-2015, 02:04 PM.Comment

I have to watch that one, can't miss history lol. Imagine if someone toseses a no-hitter. If a no-hitter is thrown and no one is around to see it, did it really happen?Green Bay PackersSeattle MarinersNew York Rangers

That's going to be... odd. Anyway they can prevent Harrelson from getting in, you know, for his own safety?Comment

On a serious note, their defense is atrocious. Ian Desmond ain't a clue, Jason Werth doesn't even have a throwing arm anymore, not to mention putting Zimmerman @ 1B.Last edited by Speedy; 04-28-2015, 02:51 PM.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

I suspect they might rethink that decision, but I really really want to see it. MLB Network should show it, but I wonder if they'll wuss out because of the context.Comment

This was the MLB's decision not the team's...I can't see any reason for it to be open to the public.Comment

That'll be a weird game though, I hope they do show it on TV or something. Will PA announcer even be needed for that game? And if a foul ball gets hit into the stands, it'll just stay there? And will there still be ballboys?
lol, when they mention O's-White Sox game happening in an empty stadium, all I can think of is picturing it like:
(Halftime Heat)

Re: 4/20 - 5/3 Game Discussion Thread
This will be a huge hit to the franchise's revenue...if even 20K people show at, say $20 a ticket, that's $400K lost in one day, likely much higher given concession sales and the variance in ticket pricing which depends on seat level.
It's naive to assume the issue will be resolved this week...what if the situation is still bad or worsens on Baltimore's next homestand starting on 5/11? I don't think BAL would be okay with continually playing these "home" games in the vistors' place like they will for TB this weekend and these empty home games will have a huge hit on their finances.
There's been similar circumstance where the home stadium couldn't be used (NO with Katrina, MIN with the snowy Metrodome) but that was issues with the stadium, not the surrounding environment.
Maybe it's the nerd in me...I just find this portion of the story interesting as to what the franchise/MLB will do.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

So...side note to stay away from the politics perspective.
