Re: 4/20 - 5/3 Game Discussion Thread
Cubs need an ace? Cueto for Russell and Schwarber totally seems fair.
I wish the Reds could play Milwaukee 100 times this year. It'd be the only way they make the playoffs.

Re: 4/20 - 5/3 Game Discussion Thread
I don't think I want to watch this team again the rest of the season. Not if they play games like that. Poor game and it all falls onto the feet of a manager who should have been let go last season at least.
I wanted to give Fredi one more chance this year, but after a game like tonight, he has no business being the manager of the Braves. He's accomplished absolutely nothing since coming to Atlanta other than fielding teams year in and year out that always collapse.Comment

As for Salty, he makes too much sense for the M's. He can give Zunino theday off against tough righties, and maybe play twice a week. It would help Zunino out a bunch, I would imagine. Perhaps send them a Tyler Pike, who seems to have hit a wall in the minors.Green Bay PackersSeattle MarinersNew York Rangers

Phillies willing to pay some of Cole Hamels contract to facilitate a trade. I think Amaro held onto him too long. He hasn't looked very good to start the year. Still early though.

Congrats on the hot start, now if only they can keep it up.

The 5K was my guess at just gameday purchases not season ticket holders and people who bought tickets when they started selling.Comment

The more I think of this...the more I think that Theo would not deal any of his A/B level prospects and go for the "juggernaut". He's made such progress developing the farm system and stacking up players so it makes no sense to throw it away for a 1-2 year player to make a playoff push -- especially after the franchise's stance on Bryant.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Now on Cueto. I would not trade Russell for Cueto either. But if the Cubs are in the hunt for either the division or a WC spot, I am finding another ace to put me over the hump. The only sure thing in the playoffs in that rotation is Lester. Now you put Lester and Cueto in a playoff rotation along with Arrieta and someone else you look like a WS contender. As a Sox fan, Lester can anchor a playoff rotation but he does need help from the offense like we found out last year in Oakland. Also Theo is great at building a farm system. He signed/drafted most of the top prospects on the Red Sox including Betts, Swihart, Vazquez, Bogaerts, Margot. And on the Cubs they have drafted Bryant, Almora, Schwarber. Also he drafted guys like Casey Kelly, Anthony Rizzo, and Dustin Pedroia.Last edited by redsox4evur; 04-29-2015, 11:54 AM.Comment

As a radio host here in Toronto said a month or so ago, the Cubs have SO MANY prospects that they can afford 2 or 3 to bust or in the context of what we're speaking about, if one or two are traded away.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 4/20 - 5/3 Game Discussion Thread
I don't think Hamels makes sense for the Cubs. They're making a lot of progress with their kids and I get the feeling that Theo and Jed believe this team is actually a year or two away. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if at least one and maybe two of the A/B level prospects are gone in a year or two for veteran help/player for the stretch run. That's the reason you stockpile on prospects other than them making an impact on your team they're also the easiest trade chips to get bigger name players to your roster.
