Pretty remarkable that the Pirates and Cubs could have the seasons they're having and the Cardinals could still hold both of them at arm's length (for the time being) despite losing their ace at the start of the year. A lot of people thought their time as NL Central hegemon was over and they're probably going to win ~100 games and the division again.

The baseball factory in eastern Missouri continues to roll along.

The run that the Cardinals are on is quite remarkable. It'd be a perfect subject for a book or a long form documentary once it's over.

What would be even more remarkable is if the Cards stumbled down the stretch and the Cubs and Pirates duked it out for the division crown in late September/early October. A guy can dream....

And Koji is done for the year with a wrist injury. This is a blessing in disguise, IMO. He is 40 years old with 1 year left on his contract after this season so we should be looking for a new closer. And now we can see if we have that guy in house or do we need to trade/sign one.

I think Taz is going to be the first option and if he doesn't work out I would want Barnes to get the shot.

Don't give anyone ideas.. another book or documentary about the Cardinals is the last thing this world needs.

That's a scorekeeper's triple since Harper had no business diving for that ball, but whatever.

This might be the worst starting lineup we've fielded in the Guggenheim era. Another reason why I hate it when the Dodgers play on Sunday Night Baseball.

I honestly thought it was going to be a single plus 2-base error...he really misplayed that ball.

We need to have a national discussion about what Carlos Gonzalez has done.

Where the hell did this guy come from again?

SD manager tossed for arguing a pitch an inch below the bottom of the knees.

MLB needs to get rid of the bottom knee strike. Make it from the letters to the top of the knees.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Guy is a stud...we saw this back in 2009 or whenever he won the batting title. His problem has been injuries and he's healthy...this is who he is when healthy.

He came from his 2010-2013 performance level which was really good.
