The Astros won the series tonight. Tomorrow I'm cheering for the Dodgers, though. I mean, I might not see Kershaw pitch in person again.

Also, Craig Biggio Day was incredible. I never truly understood what he means to this city until today.

Jays will now be 0.5GB of Yankees again for division. But if the series right now is a preview of what the WC game might be like...I won't mind facing Angels for that game at all.

Still a month and a half of baseball left and 6 more against the team from up north.

I realize RBIs are a team stat but it's also going to be one of the primary stats writers -- whether you agree with it or not -- look at when they vote

Ya, cause as of now, Donaldson and Trout are real close in terms of numbers like HR,AVG and so on. Biggest difference on the statsheet is RBIs. Donaldson has 25 or so more I think?

Who cares about R.B.I.?.....as if it's important to actually drive in the guys on base.
It's much better to be projected to lead the MLB in the oGPS+NSA/factor so we know how much better the player is than the vendor serving hot dogs would be if he's on the field instead.

I like to think it was tongue in cheek comment/satire about how the voters will vote, even if it may have been genuinely meant to be serious.

That's what happens when you have 30 more PA's with RISP...Trout actually has an OPS that is 200 points higher than Donaldson with RISP (1200+ vs 1000+), but Donaldson has more opportunities and has been walked less.

Let's pump the breaks, however, as there are SIX weeks of season left...good grief.

But most valuable player...isn't driving in your own teammates part of showing that you're valuable to the team? Being the main contributing reason for a teams success.

Dude...Knight was being tongue in cheek. He's slightly anti-saber stuff...

Insert .gif about joke going over someone's head. This is actually an anti-sabermetrics mini-rant wrapped up in a cute little joke that you responded to, not an attack on the RBI. Sarcasm can be hard to detect.

                              Two things...

                              1. Cards crashing and burning in San Diego (now I know why A.J. Preller held onto all those vets after all...he's even more genius than we thought) to the point where PIT is right on their heels and the Chicago baseball Cubs are merely 6.5 GB in the NL Central. This is gonna be quite the epic dogfight. The Cubs play both teams twice (2 series) this month.

                              2. Donaldson and Trout are both very close for the AL MVP. Their fWARs are within a couple of tenths (6.9 Trout, 6.7 Donaldson), but I think it comes down to which team makes the playoffs. If both do, well, geez, it's a pick em with Donaldson getting an edge "for getting the Jays into the playoffs" for the first time since men still rode dinosaurs to work. Trout is actually still a better offensive player (.410 wOBA to .399 wOBA and 172 wRC+ to 157 RC+). Donaldson gets a bit more help from his defense but Trout is clearly a better offensive player, if ever so sightly right now. I doubt they stay so close in their performance down the stretch since Trout is the more talented player, but I wouldn't be mad with either one winning it.
