It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

The foundations of WAR are very solid; some of the inputs (particularly related to defense) just need some fine tuning.

At least he has more of a real baseball background than Tom Verducci. How that guy got into a commentary booth i'll never know.

I can testify that Harold Reynolds is a genuinely nice guy who's very easy to work with. He may or may not believe all the nonsense that comes out of his mouth, but it's clear that he's been encouraged to play up the anti-sabermetric routine. I think people sometimes forget how many casual baseball fans there are out there.

Yup, eons ago when I was a producer for Triple Play/MVP. One of my responsibilities was play-by-play & colour script, so I was there for a lot of speech recordings. Nice guy, funny, had no problem taking direction from a nobody like me. He took me and another EA audio guy on a tour of ESPN's Bristol campus and I got to sit in the Baseball Tonight control room during one of the Mariners/Yankees 2001 ALCS games.

I have no issues with Harold Reynolds. In terms of idiotic sports announcers and analysts and whatnot, he's *very* low on the scale.

That is awesome...here I am thinking it's been a good day that I drunk my OJ this morning.

Nice guy, sure. I get that vibe, too, and he didn't take me to Bristol, but he's still an awful commentator. Believes in dinosaur baseball thinking, poor timing, repetitive, suffers from Sutcliffitis at times. Still seems nervous on camera as well despite his lengthy time in the booth although I suppose people can read that as being endearing. When he actually does make a good point once in a blue moon, he stands back and looks at it lovingly like a middle-aged man admiring a crap he just made. Then he keeps going back to that point and the repetitive takes over.

I guess Jessica Mendoza was the first woman to call an MLB game last night.

If I had known or tuned into ESPN for anything these days I would have liked to hear some of the game just to see how she was. Had to be better then Kruk or Schilling or Sutcliffe.

I'm sure she was just as awful as every other loser working for ESPN.

Which game was it? I'd like to check the MLB.TV archive if they allow for one to watch the ESPN broadcast.
