Pretty much. He also made the point that the other WC contenders at the time wouldn't get 10 games over .500 because they hadn't shown the ability to do so all year long compared to the Angels who've done it throughout the season.

In a lot of ways he completely crapped on the surging Yankees and Blue Jays.

I thought I had something along the lines with the numbers that Ripken threw out there. But they work. 10 games above .500 would be 91 wins. And 90 is only 9 wins above .500.

ugh. Yeah if they played 172 games that would work. Gotta factor in losses to figure out "games over .500"

Now I'm not a math professor, but here's a very simple formula that EVERY baseball fan should be able to use:

# of games above .500 = WINS - LOSSES

Billy Burns with a lead off first pitch home run off Felix. Why are pitchers still throwing him first pitch fast balls down the middle?

Felix probably gonna go 7+ no hit innings from here on out.

That would be nice, but I doubt it, with how much Felix has been struggling.

No matter what kind of rough spot Felix may be in, he always seems to turn it up for the A's. The lead off HR probably ticked him off.

Mets starting out hot once again. 2-0 so far in the first.

What's their pitching look like for this weekend's series? Determining factor if I actually watch all 3 games this weekend. Or just follow them through my ESPN alerts.

Possibly Harvey, deGrom, and Thor, but that could change with the possibility of skipping starts for Harvey and Noah.

I will forever hate the Mets if their starts are skipped this weekend.
