last night in the ninth, the rangers bullpen got into it with a heckling oakland fan. Frank Francisco then threw a chair into the stands and it hit a guy on the head and bounced off him and hit a lady in the face and broke her nose.

Looks like he's going to get suspended and fined, and most likely sued by the lady.

It was a weird thing during a weird game last night. It was a good game though.

Looks like he and the Rangers organization (and possibly MLB) are gonna get sued BIG time. I wouldn't be surprised if the Rangers kicked him off the team for that boneheaded crap.

oakland fans aren't paying francicso. No ranger fans are going to boycott their home games because of this so it really doesn't apply.

as for criminal charges, I read somewhere that Francisco was charged with something but I definitely know he was arrested last night.

Arrested and charged with felony battery.

anyway, I'm still shocked that he actually threw a chair into the stands. No matter what the fans say or do, you just can't throw something into the stands at them.

I also wonder what sparked it but because Buck is the manager, we may never know.

Stupid Fox Southwest covering the game NEVER replayed it!

And if Buck is asked about it, he probably won't say anything and he probably told his guys not to say anything. Leading to bad speculation about his team. He could clear things up a bit.

Also, the rangers apparently had had problems with the guy all game long.



and another interesting thing, I saw Carlos Almanzar being held back and pretty much being dragged into the dugout by a player and I thought he was being restrained because he was about to go berserk on someone but it turns out, he had an asthma attack.

That was one of the worst things i've ever seen and heard about it. I don't care how good the guy is he's definately going to have to be punished for it. You don't just go throwing chairs at hecklers. I mean he or anyone else in the bullpen could've requested security to escort the fan away from there.

I remember when the Southside fans wondered out on the field at "the Joan" those couple of times. I think both times the players went out there to beat on the player. I objected to this. It was over the top...in both cases the guy was drunk/high afterall. It wasnt really necessary for 20 ballplayers to take turns kicking the fan who attacked the umpire/coach. People scoffed at this notion saying the fan got what he deserved and now theres this. You may say that the situations were different but in both scenarios the ballplayer(s) should have let security do their jobs and not tried to deal with crowd control themselves. Back then, MLB could have taken a stance to discourage it (even though the fans were wrong to wonder out on the field) but Selig acquiesced or was simply oblivious to the potential pitfall of tolerating this mindset.
