This has Andrew Friedman written all over it. The Dbacks are a possibility as well.

That'd be huge for DBacks if those 2 latest rumors I read do happen. Phillips from Reds and then Simmons from Braves.

Dbacks have Ahmed so I doubt it's them.

At this point nothing Hart/Coppella do will surprise me, but two things:

              1) Why would you trade the best defensive player in baseball when you control him for 5 more years at $10M/year?

              2) If they do trade him, they MUST get offense back in return. This continually trade for pitching, pitching, and more pitching is getting stupid. If they got Nolan Arenado or Cargo from the Rockies, Goldschmidt or Pollock from the DBacks, etc, then I can live with it, but if it's pitching prospects/relievers I'll lose my mind.

I can't even begin to express how angry I'd be if Andrelton Simmons got traded.

Like, it would be potentially fandom-changing anger.

The Padres aren't the team discussing Simmons.

If your hoping to get Arenado, Goldschmidt or Pollock you're going to be underwhelmed. Gonzalez though I could see happening but the Rockies I can't see getting Simmons though because they have Reyes at SS. Honestly I think it's a trade a with the Dodgers. Probably something like Puig for Simmons. Don't know if either side needs to add more though.

Really just starting pitching. Cause just adding 2 above average SP from free agency to that rotation, combined with their above average bullpen, and top 10 offense, would really make them strong playoff contenders.

Sounds like the talks aren't serious at this point...just talk. From what I gather the Braves are exploring packaging Swisher/Bourn/Maybin with Simmons to unload some salary while picking up young, controllable pieces.

                          I know what you mean!

Zimmerman, Corbin and Fister would look very nice as their Top 3.

I don't think it's as dire as what we had to do with BJ Upton. But hey, who knows.

Guy signed a 7 year, 58 million dollar contract before last season and is the best defensive player in baseball and just turned 26 years old and the Braves want to trade him for ****ING prospects.

                            **** off with that ****.

The latest report I read says it actually is the Padres and that they approached the Braves...Atlanta is willing to listen to anything, but at this point they have no intentions of trading Andrelton.
