Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
At this point nothing Hart/Coppella do will surprise me, but two things:
1) Why would you trade the best defensive player in baseball when you control him for 5 more years at $10M/year?
2) If they do trade him, they MUST get offense back in return. This continually trade for pitching, pitching, and more pitching is getting stupid. If they got Nolan Arenado or Cargo from the Rockies, Goldschmidt or Pollock from the DBacks, etc, then I can live with it, but if it's pitching prospects/relievers I'll lose my mind."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I can't even begin to express how angry I'd be if Andrelton Simmons got traded.
Like, it would be potentially fandom-changing anger.Comment

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
Really just starting pitching. Cause just adding 2 above average SP from free agency to that rotation, combined with their above average bullpen, and top 10 offense, would really make them strong playoff contenders.Comment

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
Sounds like the talks aren't serious at this point...just talk. From what I gather the Braves are exploring packaging Swisher/Bourn/Maybin with Simmons to unload some salary while picking up young, controllable pieces."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Zimmerman, Corbin and Fister would look very nice as their Top 3.

I don't think it's as dire as what we had to do with BJ Upton. But hey, who knows.
