Would be shocked if it wasn't Puig/Andrelton. Has to be. Might take the Puig side of that myself.

[If that were the deal] That would be quite good for the Dodgers, considering they seem to be exhausted with the Puig experiment. Seager profiles as a 3rd baseman and to plug that with the best Shortstop in the game? I like it. Straight up it would be 3 years of Puig for 5 of Simmons.

Then again there is always the latent feeling that Puig might become a star.

Update on Simmons watch day 2.

Braves have been in contact with 4 teams. Padres, Dodgers, Angels and Mets.

Mets called but hung not 10 seconds after hearing the centerpiece for a trade. Matt Harvey ot DeGrom.

Also why the Braves are doing this: The Braves recognize the weak free-agent market at shortstop and want to at least see what the return would be for Simmons considering how valuable he is. And a potential return: David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution adds (also via Twitter), Atlanta is determined to add multiple young, impact pieces without raising payroll much. Moving Simmons could achieve that goal, but the cost would assuredly be astounding for a player with as much surplus value on his contract as Simmons presently has.

The Mets checked in on Simmons this morning and were met with the asking price of Jacob DeGrom and Matt Harvey.

So he got injured in 2015, it happens. 2015 was the first time he has gone to the 15 DL, twice. It is true that, in 2015, it seemed to be a feeling of never ending recurring nagging injuries. But perhaps the stories of Puig fragility have been somewhat exaggerated.

I would take a chance, but the 3 for 5 years bothers me. Lets see if the Braves front office takes a chance.

My Twitter feed (Rotoworld) says Mets asked for one of the two, not both. That is still definitely a premium. Basically the Braves are telling the Mets that not only would they need to win a trade with an intradivisional opponent, but they would even need to win the perception that they won the deal with an intradivisional rival.

I'm not opposed to trading Andrelton, for the right deal. But trading him for Harvey or deGrom? (and I know the Mets said no).

In a vacuum, sure. But on a team loaded with pitching prospects but way short on offense, you're going to add another pitcher while not doing a thing for the offense. Meanwhile, you're hurting the defense behind said pitching.

If they move Andrelton, it better be for some offense.

Phillies sign James Russell to a Minor League deal with an invite to Spring Training.

That's four people insisting this morning that Aroldys Chapman will be moved by the end of the weekend.

Just hope they get at least one good piece back for him.

There's a guy on Twitter saying the Mets should trade Harvey to Boston for Mookie Betts.

Which would be great, if not for the fact that Betts is an Untouchable.

There are plenty of people who insist the Mets should trade Matt Harvey regardless.

Teams connected to him are Boston, Arizona off the top of my head.

MLB Trade Rumors said Astros, Diamondbacks and Yankees were most connected to him during trade deadline. I think Boston is a good fit. Detroit doesn't have the prospects. Boston has a lot of a bats in their farm.
