They have a relatively decent number.. Lowe is one too I believe, and there's a few others I can't think of off the top of my head.

The Padres will probably release Jay Payton. Also, i believe Alex Sanchez and Marquis Grissom will be free agents and theoretically Carl Everett (who is also a free agent) can still play CF.
      Slim pickings thats for sure.

I really doubt they'll release Jay Payton since he is owed a good amount of money... You're right, there aren't any decent free agent CFers. I just looked at Sanchez's stats and he doesn't walk a lot and he gets thrown out more than I'd like from a lead off hitter. Payton better get his act together.

                  I gotta wonder...

If the Mets think the Kazuo Matsui experiment is over(thinking about moving him to 2B and Reyes to short might be a sign), do they try to move him and go after Nomar?

It might be wishful thinking.. but while Matsui was okay with the bat last year, his fielding did suck so I don't think there would be much in the way of takers.. plus that contract of his.

Reyes gets hurt often enough where he might not be worth the risk, on the other hand. They could sign Nomar to play short and keep Reyes at second. I honestly don't know how much time Reyes has left with the Mets to be perfectly honest.

Of course.. bleh.. the Yankees have a pretty decent 2B in Miguel Cairo.. but the urge to grab Nomar and ask him to play second is a scenario that has to be out there. I don't think the Yankees will pursue Nomar to play second to be honest, but you never know what's going through Steinbrenner's head sometimes.

Just something I've been running through my head overnight :P
