Re: Who's worse: Tim McCarver or Joe Morgan?

McCarver is horrid. I get sick of him dwelling on stuff, much of which is dumb minutia, and also, much of which, is wrong. I remember in 2001 when the Cards played the DBacks. It was Morris vs Schilling and both pitchers were on. The DBacks had a 1 run lead in the 7th and LaRussa left Morris in to hit that inning and McCarver bitched for 45 minutes about leaving Morris in. 45 minutes and its not as if LaRussa. If Morris is keeping you in the game its the job of the other 8 batters to score. LaRussa used sounder judgment than McCarver in this situation but its certainly not a move that was worthy of criticism. Morgan is less annoying than McCarver but still should not be doing national games. Im also not a big fan of Joe Buck. I actually liked Sean McDonough when he did games foe CBS. For a colour guy, Steve Stone far better than McCarver. I see Im not the only one who thinks 60% of the ESPN announcers are garbage. What is Berman doing announcing playoff games? He has no business being in the booth. Brantley would be less annoying if hed take the tabacca out of his mouth. Anyone also miss when NBC did it and had Scully and Costas and also Uecker later? I remember NBC carried the 1997 series and the announcing was actually enjoyable.

Man I miss the days of Vin Scully calling playoff games. Both McCarver & Morgan are horrible.

Yeah, Scully/Garagiola and Costas/Kubeck were better than anyone now. I really did like Costas with Uecker though.

Man, I'm upset I missed this thread until now.

Anyway, as late as it may be.

Joe Morgan is the worst announcer in baseball. I can honestly say I have never ever heard anything from him that was either intelligent or something even a person that didn't watch baseball wouldn't know. The man doesn't make sense. Really, listen to him. All of his points are defensive. He'll support both arguments until one is proven and then run away with it as if he knew it the whole time. He'll argue something, get proven wrong, and then defend it as if he was never wrong. He never admits he is wrong. I'm not expecting the guy to give out an apology, but he'll get loud and obnoxious until the other announcer, fan (in a chat session), or whoever drops the case. He's worthless. He's living proof that a great player doesn't always know a lot about the game. Joe Morgan knows absolutely nothing about baseball. At least not much more than the less-than-casual baseball fan.

Tim McCarver just sounds like an idiot. He is extremely biased toward anything that lives and breathes New York. And he, like Morgan, never says anything intelligent.

The both of them are more concerned with proving that their opinions are fact rather than accepting the fact that their opinions have been proven wrong.

McCarver is easily the worst, no question. I hate Buck even more than Morgan.
